After watching Taake live last night they are now the GAYEST FUCKING METAL BAND ON THE PLANET. Worst gig I have ever been to, disgusting garbage. Taake is now dead to me, go fuck Kvarforth up the ass Hoest. You fucking faggot. Everyone in the crowd looked at each other shocked and pissed off by all the shit that went on. Weird that none of the black metal fans went up there to stab Hoest in the face...

Although i agree all those bands have released some amazing work, you are kinda comparing apples to oranges

I actually like the production on Battles in the North. Most people seem to dislike it, but I think it adds to the overall atmosphere of the album. It sounds like you are in a blizzard haha.

I agree. Battles is great. Definitely has a unique sound; whether the result was intentional or not, who knows. I actually enjoyed Abbath's drumming as well, even the sloppiness.

The way I think of it, just like every genre in music the majority is usually bad or as most people say "gay"

I think black metal can be the most beautiful and expressive music out there, maybe that's what some people consider gay

What I don't like about black metal is the whole image, the whole dressing up as a fucking retard thing is just pointless, the persons image shouldn't have any effect on the music so it really is just fucking unnecessary, most black metal that is made by "satanists" or just complete nonsense lyrics usually suck, but then again I don't listen to that much regular black metal. But what I don't get is, bands like Enslaved don't have to wear a bunch of paint/make-up or dress like a complete douche to be popular/well known yet even the most popular black metal bands of all time, Mayhem and Immortal to name a couple still do it, I mean its not like a true black metal fan would go to a show like "I hope Abbath is wearing paint on is face!", hell if anything people want to see him without any of it, considering half of the metal community haven't even seen him in his regular form.

I don't like black metal at all... I'm the same as you with the imagery of the whole genre. It's kind of stupid. Then again, I've had no desire to look into any bands. There might just be some that I like, but over all, it's not for me.

Other than a handful of regular black metal bands I mostly listen to stuff with viking/folk/progressive/symphonic/atmospheric elements. I like this music with clean vocals in at least some of the bands music, as well as clean guitars. I just really love the atmosphere bands like Agalloch have.

I love black metal but I have to agree that it's one of the gayer metal genres, especially the stuff on my side of the Atlantic. A lot of the machismo in metal has been stripped from the whole Cascadian/Depressive scene in favor of feminine atmospheres.

Fuckin textbook gay. Altar of Plagues' vocalist/lead guitarist (not North American but definitely Weakling worship) lists Bjork as one of his main influences? Gay as fuck.

The only subgenre that's gayer is fucking doom metal.

Unless we're talking UK death/doom, the gothic side of the sub-genre, or Warning, I don't see how doom metal is particularly gay. Machismo can be pretty gay too.
