Controversial opinions on metal

Funny you ask that, because honestly I can't even take most of all metal and the scene seriously (so let's call it all "dumb" as you wish, baha), but some groovy death metal that just flows really well and brvtally, tuned with a little touch of happy (major scales/"dumb"?lol) and the right bunch of guys to do it simply makes it more fun (or for some "easy to headbang to") if that wasn't really obvious enough.

Well I'm sure they're happy to not take you seriously in return, hahaha.

My idea of something fun is shit like Lawnmower Deth, anything that's offensive and tongue-in-cheek or like what KafkaX said.

I see where you are coming from. Dying Fetus is written to be heavy and groovy and dont take their content seriously (their band name for christ's sake), but man do they rip. Ive heard they were a blast to see live, and im going to see them this Friday so ill see for myself.

Though I still dont think id go as far as saying they are the only worthwhile "fun" death metal band (quite frankly, it's a really outrageous claim). Basically anything grindcore (throw most goregrind in here as well) fits into this claim, and imo most of the classics of the genre reign supreme over anything Dying Fetus has done. Porno-grind fit this category as well, but most of these bands are crap and not worth listening to for more than a couple of songs at a time for a good laugh - also known as getting drunk with friends.

Ghoul > Dying Fetus

Nice choice.

This^ really any band that has it's beginnings in Grindcore is bound to be fun or at least tongue-in-cheek etc.
As to Pornogrind, I fucking love Meat Shits but that's about it, there's a few others I like but none touch Meat Shits in my opinion.
Are Gut considered Pornogrind?

I have never understood the term 'pornogrind'. What the fuck is it? And why was it created? I saw somewhere that Agoraphobic Nosebleed was classified as pornogrind.

I think, but don't quote me, that Pornogrind is just Goregrind with an overwhelmingly porny vibe, porn samples, the themes etc.
Cybergrind uses a lot of computer-generated sounds and I think to some degree Pornogrind follows suit.

^ Pretty much. Cant forget about them pitch shifted vocals <3

LOL

ANb is not pornogrind, just grindcore.

I know theyve been discussed a million times, but repeating ourselves here is the norm so whatever, come at me bro, but Sabbath Bloody Sabbath is the weakest of the first 5 BS albums.

Listening to it now, and while its one of my favorites, especially from them, shit just doesnt touch any of the other 4.

Sabotage has some of their most interesting songs, but there are definitely some weaker ones too.

^ Thats how I feel about SBS.

Starts out fucking strong with my favorite 3 tracks from the album, but then looses steam with Killing Yourself To Live and onward...Spiral Architect is cool though.

Ive tried liking their "classic" material. I failed. Same with Dimmu. Stormblast and EDT are such chores to listen to

Dani Filth ruins any shot of me liking CoF. His vocals are just too grating. For All Tid is cool though every once and a while, yeah.
