Controversial opinions on metal

i saw them live with openers blood red throne and enslaved. To say enslaved tode them a new one would be an understatement. But my buddy seemed to enjoy dimmu.

Dimmu's first two album I go back to every now and again. Pretty solid black metal.

After that, well, shit went downhill. Doesnt mean I still dont enjoy it from time to time though. On occasion Ill throw on EDT, or PUM, or SBD.

Anything after PUM is a just plan awful.

I rarely spin any of their records, which is surprising as I'm huge on symphonic black metal. I just dislike their delivery. Too sterile or something.

Stormblast MMV was a goddamn abortion.

stormblast is ok but i think it gets overrated by BM-heads just because it's nowhere near as shit as some of their other stuff.

Conversely, I believe there are some that underrate it solely because it is Dimmu.

I wholeheartedly believe that had any other band put out Stormblast, it would've been regarded a cornerstone of the genre. And this is coming from someone who largely despises Dimmu Borgir.

I can only really enjoy the first five or so Maiden albums. After that, fuck them imo.

This IS the greatest Dimmu Borgir album of all time, nothing else they have ever done can even come close to this, I'd even go so far as to say this is one of my favorite albums ever:

I like EDT more than Stormblast but slightly less than For All Tid. Never liked any of the others. There are some okay guitar riffs on one of them but the symphonic stuff irritates me.

Though the only time I listen to any of them is when I'm in 13 year old nostalgia mode, so my opinion is pretty much irrelevant.
