Controversial opinions on metal

Doesn't matter because the whole episode is over. Just everyone please stop escalating things beyond where they need to go.

Thanks.

Back on topic:

While Incantation is very good, all of their albums sound the same to me. You could strip everything of album titles and switch them all around and I won't know if they are incorrect or not.

it's already a lot tamer here than back in the day. insults are an important part of board bonding

.

The Ozzman, I'd give Diabolical Conquest another shot. Although I generally disagree that any of their albums sound similar, that one really stands apart if not only for Daniel Corchado's influence on their songwriting.

Okay, I should've mentioned this. That album is definitely the most sinister sounding of all the full lengths and it is Corchado's influence. You are 100% correct there. That one stands out to me the most for that reason alone.

Cool just blame me for shit, don't back it up and then avoid culpability by moving on.
I don't appreciate you riding my nuts Ozz, as if I'm some giant asshole, which I know by not immediately dropping this I'm at risk of proving I am.

I'm already tired of all of the shit you're doing.

What shit? I'd like you to be specific so if need be I could work on it.

If need be I'll just leave [shrug] if I can't make some sarcastic jokes with people on a controversial opinions thread about taste elitism then I really don't wanna bother with this forum because things like this are usually just a glimpse of what's to come with moderation and restrictions.

I have nothing against you personally, seem nice, you on the other hand seem to have a stick rammed up your ass about me.

Edit: I love Incantation but I agree, they're mostly samey, but that double-edged sword also means they're pretty damn consistent.

Corchado co-writes 2 songs. I doubt he really influenced the song writing or anything. And I do think Incantation's albums do differ from each other.

I don't want you to leave. If you do, that's your choice. If you want specifics, please message me privately. I'm not shitting up this thread anymore and neither are you or anyone else.

The biggest challenge to being a moderator is finding a balance with everything.

Discussion over. Back to regular programming.

The Chasm's music is not heavy dark or sinister like Incantation's music. I know a lot of people here like this band, but when it comes to Death Metal they do not have what I like in Death Metal at all. And I do not like the band at all.

Just watched Katatonia's Sanctitude start to finish and think it's one of the best performances captured for video in the past 10 years. Amazing performances, energy and atmosphere. Plus it sounds fucking awesome.

Some of their albums have lots of weird stuff going on that can be interesting to listen to but overall I'm not a huge fan either.

Anyway, here's a controversial opinion, Will Rahmer is my favourite Incantation vocalist.

I actually really dig The Chasm's stuff. After listening to it all, I find Deathcult to be their worst album but still really good. Farseeing the Paranormal Abysm is my favorite from the band.

I still think they get fellated too much by everyone though.

I also want to check out some live shows from Katatonia. Seem like it would be good stuff even live.

I saw Katatonia, they did not play certain parts of their songs and were horrible as fuck live. I don't go to shows a lot or anything. Not like I care.

I've seen them something like 6 or 7 times and my impression has always been that even if you like their later material they're a bit crap live.

Though most of the times I've seen them has been at festivals and lots of bands sound shitty outside.

sure, i get why someone who worships incantation wouldn't like the chasm. i'm in the opposite camp really, i like a little melody in my DM. oppressive murk has its place but it works more as background music for me, it doesn't keep my attention.

i have the opposite opinion. they've been getting more and more streamlined, predictable and bloated over the years. still one of the best bands around though.

have you really heard their first two BTW? i wouldn't expect you to like them more than DEATHCULT but maybe i'm wrong.

I like Katatonia's more recent material, but it isn't the type of music I would want to be in a crowded room to hear.

i still sorta like DISCOURAGED ONES and TONIGHT'S DECISION despite the awkward songwriting and moping about, but they got really shitty later on. i can imagine them being dreadful live.

Farseeing is my favorite as well. But they are great all around.

Easily my favorite death metal band.
