Controversial opinions on metal

I've listened to Pensees Nocturnes' first two albums, Vacuum and Grotesque quite a few times. It's basically dsbm mixed with classical music to pretty cool effect... Other than that, I don't really like the genre.

Love Krohm, but don't feel they fall in DSBM. More like atmospheric. Lifelover doesn't quite fit either. More of a post sound. Pensees Nocturnes is a band I'm becoming quite fond of. Candy for the ears.

System of a Down is a good band
Avenged Sevenfold has a few good songs
Slipknot has one good (Sic is a good song, in my opinion)
St. Anger rules
Load is one of Metallica's best albums
The Black Album is awesome
Kill 'Em All is Metallica at their best
Peace Sells is a better album then Rust in Peace
Cannibal Corpse gets boring very easily
Deathcore is metal, but it sucks
Burzum is better than Mayhem
I like Abbath's look

I like it when Abbath sticks his guts out and looks like he's gonna shit himself.

He actually has a leather piece he uses to hold it in for photos...

Deathcore is a subgenre of Hardcore, that's not a controversial opinion, it's just a wrong one.

Actually, deathcore is metalcore with a heavier, death metal oriented sound. Their is little hardcore to be found. For hardcore, think Dead Kennedys and Black Flag.

I need to make a new thread like this and have rules like:

1) Conversations about the Big Four are off limits
2) 'Venom is/isn't black metal' arguments off limits

Basically anything that comes full circle after 10 pages or so.

Deathcore is over simplified death metal with feelings lyrics and chug chug mosh pit breakdowns. Like it or not, it sounds more like death metal than it does hardcore, no doubt.

Too bad it isn't what Internal Bleeding and early Dying Fetus did in the 90s. I'm not sure anyone would complain about it...

SOAD has a couple good songs... but not a good band.
No.
No.
St. Anger has a couple okay songs.
Sorry man but Load is trash.
Same with Black Album, it is bad.
AJFA > KEA
Debatable but not outright wrong.
Cannibal Corpse's first four are awesome.
Deathcore has a couple good bands.
Yes.
I don't care about the "look" so I can't really comment.

Yeah, early Cannibal Corpse is pretty good, but they got shot to hell later.

Metalcore and Deathcore are offshoots of Hardcore, just like Death Metal is an offshoot of Heavy Metal, granted somewhat down the line but still.

I'd complain.

I don't think it sounds like Death Metal, if it did I might enjoy it.

Get a clue.

Metalcore refers to any extreme metal genre combined with hardcore punk. Deathcore is a type of metalcore, but it is clearly closer to death metal. It has more "death" than "core".
