Dies Irae is fucking awsome and probably better than most tracks on the first three.
Behind the title track it's my favorite on BFD. Love that outro.

I actually think A Fine Day To Die is quite overrated. Obviously it is awsome and one of the better tracks on the album, but compared to the title track it is clearly the worse of the epics on the album.
if BLOOD ON ICE had been released when it was first written/recorded (before HAMMERHEART) it'd be considered seminal.
I think that Blood on Ice is pretty overlooked. It's a bit different from the other Viking albums.
Also we kinda discussed this but I don't see the point in seperating the NWOBHM bands from other artists who were basically doing the same kind of music be they from a different time or different country.
That's a silly point though :/The point would be, they're not British.
It's a factual point. After all, it's NWOBritishHM.
What I mean is I don't see the point in seperating bands based on nationality.
NWOBHM isn't a genre buddy.
So if I made a list of my favourite Norwegian black metal, you'd be okay with me filling the list with Swedish and Finnish black metal?
Interesting.
NWOBHM isn't a genre buddy.
Jesus at least admit you were totally wrong about this. You literally have no counter other than "U.K. meh Norway meh" haha.
If you want to discuss NWOBHM but you don't want to be limited to British bands, drop the NWOB and just start a HM thread/discussion.
It wouldn't bother me since I find Norwegian black metal mostly average. But that's what I was saying basically it's not a genre just a group of bands from a certain era playing a certain kind of music that bands from other countries were also playing. I dunno it's just such a weird thing I'd rather have a thread dedicated to that kind of music from any country rather than just UK.
