Don't think I could agree with that. I like Gospel but at their best they can't touch D666.

As far as adding a bit of epic to their black/thrash, have you checked out the latest Desaster? Haven't heard it for a bit but I remember it having a fairly epic sound.

Most Deströyer 666 fans (including me) probably feel that it's their worst album, so I would say so. The production on the album is very offputting and a lot of the songs aren't on par with the other albums.

I appreciate it for it's traditional metal elements, without them it would just be Defiance part II ie boring shit.

Pretty much. First two albums are the best, the rest are for completists.

Thousand Swords ranks among the greatest black metal albums ever. And The Celtic Winter, Carpathian Wolves, Following the Voice of Blood and Immortal Pride are good albums.

Thousand Swords is overrated. It's a good album, but it's the weakest of their first six full lengths. I've never understood why people think it's their best release.

Well I don't understand why you have Deafheaven and Prometheus on your top 100 black metal list while having no Greek black metal.

Different tastes. Old Wainds had a great description of why Thousand Swords is so good. It was something like "the most sophisticated integration of folk into metal". And it's just really unqiue and well executed.
