Längqvist's vocals alone set Epicus apart from most doom metal, the timbre and sheer virtuosity of them, and then Messiah's vocals? Certainly the band's own. Flagrant Sabbath influence, but copycat? Hardly.

The fact that there are so many Electric Wizard clones means they should probably be in the hall of fame by now. Also they're named after 2 Black Sabbath songs, and take a good amount of inspiration from them.

I confess that most of the time I like the idea of Electric Wizard more than the actual music. I love the aesthetic, and Jus and Liz certainly have brilliant taste, I could listen to them talk about film for hours, but by and large they're style of doom doesn't always translate to my ears. They do have some jams though, the aforementioned "Funeralopolis" being a shining example.
