Controversial opinions on metal

Satyricon are ok. black'n'roll is quite fun to listen to. too bad their songs all sound the same.

Jones does not sing in monotone
Um...more or less, yes he does. Nowhere near enough range.

and pinched harmonics make the song way better.
No.
And lol at bringing "epic" into it.
The original is proto-epic power metal.
The original has 0 "punch" comparatively,
It's not about punch. The original is from the days before everything was all DUDNUDNDUNDUNDUNDUN with no fucking subtlety. You can even hear bass in the original. The KSE guitars are just messy and the tone sucks for this kind of music.

Dio's singing is pretty laughable as well, not epic.
You fail the metal test. Go play around on the hardcore forums.

@Omni: cba to use the best wordings or whatever, but basically it's a direct progression from

Holy Diver wasn't fully formed European-style power metal - still rooted in more tradition Sabbath-style heavy metal, but led pretty directly to epic/gay euro power metal.

No, the faster, soaring style of heavy rock and metal bands like Queen, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, and then Helloween, led to epic power metal, especially the European bands. Dio isn't a major formative influence on that kind of music.

If you really need a progenitor proper for power metal, the answer is Rainbow - Kill The King.

Headless Cross is definitely better than anything that Dio released with Black Sabbath. It's controversial, but definitely true.
