I heard some tracks from Epica; I like them. Nightwish are just so ridiculously catchy and stupidly epic.(not very flattering and rather shallow descriptors, I guess, haha). Basically, Elend reduced to pop music, with rhythmic captivity and sans the crazy, apocalyptic all over the place theatrics.
My only qualms with them are the often godawful lyrics, overproduction and occasional(okay, maybe slightly more than occasional) reliance on processed synths. That said,none of the above is particularly overbearing, so I still like them quite a bit(the stuff with Tarja, mainly.) I enjoy Oceanborn the most.

I like KoRn, that's pretty controversial. Mind you, I always feel guilty while listening to them.
I also enjoyed Death Magnetic and St Anger.

KoRn's s/t was good, everything else they did is shit IMO.
I like Death Magnetic enough, but that snare drum on St. Anger gives me a migraine.
