The Sound of Perserverance was an embarassment to say the least.

Sorry chief but I'm quite frankly sick of all the "DEATH IS DA BEST DEF M3TUL BAND EVA!1!'11!" comments and constant Chuck Schuldiner worship. They were a good not great death metal band. How influential they were is irrelevant.

I'm with you there. I like Death, I think they were a fine band, but the praise they get is pretty over the top.

Well, this thread deserves it's name that's for sure. You should try better Black Metal, like Dissection's Storm of the Light's Bane.

I like how you assume that because we like one band you don't like, we don't listen to ANYTHING ELSE.

I really like their first three albums, but never went further. People say Human is their best, but I'm hesitant.

Anyways, Death is the band that got me into Death Metal, and it's still my favorite Death Metal band, despite what anybody says about them being overrated.

Try the albums Human, Spiritual Healing, Individual Thought Patterns, and Leprosy.
Much better IMO.

I've always considered Death to be more of a progressive thrash sound, they just don't sound as death metal as say morbid angel. Fantastic band though, I like most of their stuff, Symbolic being the best.

Don't get me wrong, Symbolic is my favorite Death album. Leprosy is second, and the best straight death metal album Chuck did. (No gays, it's not Spiritual Healing).
