I got bored with thrash metal about 10 years ago. The only good thrash I've heard lately was Morbid Saint, and that was because I never listened to them in the 80's or had an opportunity to do so until I spent a bored evening browsing YouTube.

Yeah, I'm a fan of most of those bands you listed Kafka, but the amount of garbage among the metalcore, deathcore, and "hardcore" is staggering.

Pig Destroyer were actually one of those bands that got me into extreme metal, and Prowler in the Yard is intense and great.

The big four was/is about popularity, not quality. So the big four shouldn't be anything other than what it already is. They are the big four because they were the four most popular thrash metal bands through its heyday.

This post should be auto-posted every time someone mentions who 'should have been' in the big four.

There's surely more good hardcore than grindcore, even if I only listen to less than 20 releases of each genre these days.

Sodom is pretty hit and miss for me, but when it's good it's great. Kreator has yet to really "grab" me. Exodus is whatever.

The underappreciated gem that is Invocator - Weave the Apocalypse is getting a ton of play from me lately.
