Controversial opinions on metal

You probably think that because you have dicks in your ears and get off on spouting obnoxiously eccentric opinions, which is why pretty much everybody with a modicum of self-awareness effectively ignores you beyond casual chastisement.

Or I think that because the main riff is identical to Sacred Reich's Death Squad, and other riffs can be found from earlier releases as well.

EDIT: The cover art is awesome though, I'll grant the album that.

And even if it was exactly the same riff and it was known that Sodom deliberately lifted the riff for use in their own song, that would still be irrelevant when the riff is placed in an entirely different context.

I fucking hate Graveland because of Darken's vocals. That may not be as controversial as I believe it is. I really would like to enjoy his albums, especially the first half of his discography, but his monotone, grumbled slurring into the mic is not working for me.

I'm pretty down with his Lord Wind project however.

You know how many thrash riffs sound similiar, every Kreator riff for example is almost indentical to Slayer's, but no one points that out.

Anyone else hear Testament trying to play a Metallica album when they listen to Souls of Black? Not that it's bad or anything...

I've found myself thinking some Testament songs sounded like Metallica sometimes. Cannot tell what the song or album was, I'm not that familiar with Testament besides The Legacy and some The Gathering.

I can see people not liking his vocals, but I think they are great and totally fits his music.

Hmm.. i can't stand Messiah's live performances.. I have Epicus Doomicus Metallicus with the Live in Birmingham bonus CD.. Messiah never shuts up at all when he's not singing and it just annoys me. Plus Death Magic Doom is an awesome album.

re: 1349 as worst modern bm band

I don't consider them the most offensively bad or anything, but probably they and Watain are equal in lameness in my book (well, post-Casus Watain, where they went downhill majorly).

hmm.. i like 1349, especially their cover of buried by time and dust. But I will say that too much attention is given to Frost, a lot of fans just forget about the rest of the band

edit:

@death. yes, Johan Langquist is awesome.

King of the Grey Islands is better than DMD imo. Although DMD is really good, KOTGI was absolutely awesome. I wouldn't say that I like those albums better than Messiah's, because fuck, he has Epicus, Nightfall and Tales which are really epic, but I'd definitely say they are on the same league.
Also, I have this Live in Birmingham bonus CD... it's not that bad, but it's true he never shuts up and it's a bit annoying.

I love Morbid Angel but i always wished that their guitar tone was a little sharper or crunchier, because sometimes it sounds too "tame" IMO.(not lead tone)

I hate Nile's guitar tone on all their albums except for Annihilation of the Wicked, but still a great band
