Controversial opinions on metal

Of course they don't. That's not the point.
I found both discs worthwhile. Two is obviously better, but one is often entertaining. I fucking love their cover of Whiskey in the Jar, and it really does demonstrate that although Hetfield may no longer have any aptitude for singing metal, he really does have a good voice.

Cythraul hit it out of the park on American metal. Let's face it, it's "cool" to talk shit about anything and everything American. I really doubt that the U.S. is the worst culture in today's world. What about Russia? Outside of their power metal and vodka, is there anything else they produce that people actually like?

I quite like their porn.

(I'll get my coat).

I don't really think that anyone can really say that they enjoy much of the latterly recorded Garage Inc material. I quite enjoy the Mercyful Fate medley, which I find well assembled.

The rest of it is fucking garbage though. That Discharge cover is beyond retarded, and the Thin Lizzy cover has none of the soul of the original, but all of the glossy sins of modern production jobs.

Russian women in general are great. Never mind about economic conditions and gold diggers, actual normal Russian women just have something about them, they're awesome.

Eh, it's not bad.

Also:
Garage Days Re-revisited >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Garage Inc.
I know both contain the same songs, but I can do without all the extraneous bullshit of Garage Inc.

I dunno, there are a couple of decent songs on the newer disc. The old disc is fucking awesome though! I have Garage Days on vinyl - one of my prized possessions.

All right I've got some controversial opinions, so I'll share them:

-Beherit is not black metal. Its just sloppy doom/death. And they suck.
-Burzum's synth album "Hlidskjalf" is great.
-Velevet Cacoon's "Genevieve" is one the top 10 black metal albums ever.
- Mayhem's "Deathcrush" and "De Myserious" are not very good. "Live in Leipzig" is the only Mayhem album worth owning.

-Nah, they're black metal (except maybe H418ov21.C and Electric Doom Synthesis) and they're awesome.
-Agreed.
-I enjoyed it but it wouldn't go anywhere near the top 10 imo.
-Disagree, De Mysteriis is my 3rd favourite black metal album, and I enjoyed Deathcrush (just picked it up on 180 gram vinyl actually, the Back on Black reissue).

I haven't heard any hate for Hlidskjalf at all. Except for me, that is... I find the album mostly boring.

Daudi Baldrs, on the other hand, is completely fantastic.

Korn IS a great band. Of course you won't hear that here since it's not kvlt to consider nu metal, metalcore, or deathcore to be music, let alone related to metal. Heavy metal fans most likely naturally prefer heavy metal to other heavy music such as nu metal and metalcore, hence making them heavy metal fans, but to accept the fact that other people who do enjoy nu metal, for example, are not just immature morons but people with tastes distinct from their own, would make them ostracized from the metal community for that tolerance of other opinions. This is how it works for a metal poser such as most people on any metal forum:

1 Heavy metal- must profess its superiority, especially "technical" forms of it, because how difficult it is to make something necessarily denotes quality

2 Other heavy music- must deny that it's heavy, and that it's music, and use immature vulgarities to describe it, either so that you stay popular among other metal posers or to reaffirm to yourself that you're not "mallcore", because its similarity to the tr00 heavy music you're supposed to like secretly makes you insecure. Must also constantly point out that influences from hardcore, hiphop, electronics, etc all make it illegitimate, despite the fact that all of those in turn evolved from 1960's rock, as did heavy metal itself

3 Light pop / soft rock music- must like it to show that your tastes are "diversified" but must also claim it is inferior to metal, especially if it is mainstream, because the number of people who like something is inversely proportional to its quality

wat

Maybe the reason why you won't hear that Korn is a great band here (here being Ultimate Metal) is because it isn't.
