Could Satan actually exist ? ? ?

This band has completed the transition from a promising hope of French old-school filthy BM to one of the few bands worldwide that will be remembered as a major influence regarding the evolution of the scene, both music- and ethics-wise.

Birky, no one here cares about your shallow DsO bashing.

JayKeeley: I'm not that new to Deathspell. I just wanted to start another thread to find out if their old stuff is worth it. Does anybody know?

J.: SHIT!!! Get some Deathspell. My GOD!!!

Their old stuff is much more straight-forward than the new. Personally, I enjoy it, but that's because I like that traditional stuff. The split they released with Clandestine Blaze was also very good. "The Suicide Curse" may very well be one of their stronger tracks.

I'm actually going to give Si Momentum another listen...now. According to last.fm I've played them 48 times so a couple more wouldn't hurt.

I wil. I'm actually waiting to find a Moonblood/DsO split so I can hear what the big shit is with both these bands.

Get Kenonse or Si Monumentum. You of all people will appreciate the Neurosis connection on those two. I don't know what they sound like on the Moonblood split.

Do not fail to check the DsO tracks featured on both splits "From the Entrails to the Dirt" and "Crushing the Holy Trinity". Among their strongest songwriting efforts to date!

Nate, I do not know if you'd dig the pre-"Circvmcise" material. Well, it's much less sophisticated so do not expect too much, but the same spirit of spiteful decadence is definitely haunting these records already. Actually I prefer the old-school version of "Drink the Devil's Blood" that is on "Infernal Battles" to the faster, clear-cut one on "SMR,C"...

@ Birky: fair enough, maybe you should give Kénôse a couple listens on occasion.

Birky, no one here cares about you, period.

fixed that last part for you Ellestin

I just ordered:

Infernal Battles
Inquisitors of Satan
split w/ Clandestine Blaze

Blut Aus Nord - Ultima Thulee

Astrofaes - Those Whose Past Is Immortal

Arghoslent - Arsenal of Glory (digi)

yay me!

Where'd you order the two Deathspell releases?

Oh . . . and you probably won't get the full understanding of what the big noise is with Deathspell until you here Si Monumentum and Kenose. Nonetheless, I know you'll like the early stuff. I can't imagine this band was ever anything less than great.

By the way, it's taken a good long while to appreciate Si Monumentum...nobody is going to "get it" in the first few spins. Kenose is still working its way around my head.

Thanks for Deathgasm recommendation. I ordered both the old Deathspell albums and Sigh 'Imaginary Sonicscape'. I'm expecting them to say "sorry the Sigh album is out", because I've ordered it several other places to be told the same thing. Plus, it goes for about $25 or $30 on ebay. So my hopes aren't very high.

Nope, the dude's name is Evan (who runs the place). If it's on the site, it's in stock. They rule.

You should bookmark www.wraithproductions.net and www.fmp666.com as well, given your metal leanings of late. Both great distros & have lots of cool stuff at all times.
