Cradle of Filth

I still think you're committing a crime by not enjoying Damnation and a Day, the lyrics are some of Dani's most captivating, and the music is just epic. :p

And I agree, I think Dimmu and Cradle are in the same boat.

I thought it was so pretentious and over-the-top. Besides they already did a concept album.

I'd say it's ambitious rather than pretentious. ;)

Plus the orchestra is utilized well and definitely suited for the epic and biblical nature of the album. Whereas Dimmu for example, goes for the Star Wars sound which I find to be overblown.

The music is great, but like Midian, I find myself listening to it more because of the lyrics than the actual music.

Besides they already did a concept album.

Fair enough...and they would unfortunately do two more. :bah:

But I think this concept fit on pretty well with Cradle's usual themes anyhow. Plus it offers so much more than the usual cliche about a fallen angel, and I don't think it's written in the same way that Cruelty and the Beast is.

The last two CoF albums come off, lyrically, as lame attempts to do what Dani had already achieved with Cruelty. I think Dani is resorting to concept albums lately because he has lost inspiration and essentially run out of his own ideas, so he needs something else to challenge him.
