Swedish black metal is very underrated, probably because we never had any church burnings.

I asume that you already know of Bathory, Dissection, Dark Funeral and Watain and if not don't ever speak to me again

Id go with something like Drudkh, Summoning, Emperor or Coldworld rather than with trvekvltsatan black metal bands for the beggining.

Anyway France, Australia and South America has lot's of good black metal bands as well....I have no clue about american black metal bands, are there any good ones???

I see you already got some good recommendations. Coming from DM I think bands like Immortal, Dissection, Watain, early Samael, Unanimated (new one is awesome) is an obvious start. Im having a hard time finding anything of value in bands like Darkthone and Burzum etc. I have to look up those bands Jonas mentioned.

I'm surprised you guys see unanimated as a black metal band... to me they sound more like old school thrash/death metal... with some blackish approach at times, dunno... penismon!

if well I couldn't care less about black metal except for the obvious bands (emperor, immortal, dark funeral... one album each and that's it) there's a band that has a really good album people just don't talk about... all hail the stellar master elite.

If you count Dissection and Necrophobic as black metal (which I do) then Unanimated is also black metal.

ah! the dissection paradigm, I have listened to them and to me they sounded like old school melodic death metal with a blackish approach never really cared about necrophobic
