Death Metal

Behemoth (if they count as Death Metal, I think they sound more DM than Black Metal.)

Do you even realize they went through a massive sound change, or are you so insufficiently informed?

I'm well aware of that. Their earlier were Black Metal but there's still people discussing so yeah.

Awesome!

Being a massive fan of these guys I’ve pre-ordered the 5LP box set in beige marble wax and the CD box set as well.

So excited about this even though I have the original CDs.

ABRAMELIN – COMPLETE RECORDINGS TO BE RELEASED IN OCTOBER!

On October 21st Century Media Records will release "Transgressing The Afterlife - The Complete Recordings 1988-2002" - an anthological release of ABRAMELIN, Australia's once greatest death metal band. ABRAMELIN were founded under the moniker ACHERON in Melbourne in 1988. Within ten years (1990-2000) ABRAMELIN have released one demo, two EPs and two albums, all of which have become highly sought-after rarities by now. "Transgressing The Afterlife - The Complete Recordings 1988-2002" now compiles the songs of all the band's official recordings as well as numerous unreleased tracks. The entire audio material has been carefully remastered from original sources whilst the band has contributed tons of unseen photos. Andrew Haug has done a detailed interview with ABRAMELIN's main guys Simon Dower (vocals) and Tim Aldridge (guitars), giving you a deep insight into the band's history as well as into the Australian metal scene in general. "Transgressing The Afterlife - The Complete Recordings 1988-2002" will be released as a 3CD and 5LP, both with extensive booklets, reworked artworks, new layouts and a total of 46 tracks of merciless Aussie Death Metal with an overall playing time of more than 230 minutes!

Watch out for the vinyl version which will be limited worldwide to a one time pressing of only 1000 copies!

^ Is it just me or is the guitar sound on that pretty lame?

Yeah, I liked the riff a lot but the tone had no umph. Sounded like someone was manipulating analog television white noise through a marshal stack.

Can't be arsed to find the doom thread, but Saint Vitus and Pallbearer are coming to the same venue Obituary is playing at next month. Haven't listened to them much but I know they're both well regarded so I'm gonna check them out and probably go to the show.

Finally checked out some Bölzer today, damn they are awesome. I love their whole sound, production-wise, guitar tone, vocals, drums, interesting riffs and structures. I would like to hear more from the bass guitar, but maybe I just missed it by listening on shitty laptop speakers. From what I could tell though, they are pretty much the whole package.

Just found these guys. Started as a one man project 2010 but are now a full band who will release an album 6th of December in Europe and are still TBA when it will hit America. I'll have to give them a few listenings before I make up my mind about them but according to them they will be Death Metal and Black Metal in their upcoming one.
