Great album. I think this was my first 'death' metal album back in the day. Great cover too.

i personally agreed if Dismember is the best one of swedish death metal... the first wave swedish death metal is better than the 'gothenburg sound'. IMO

I just bought this:

Can someone please do me a favor and identify the death metal songs in this video?

I know one is a cover of Carcass's Genital Grinder...

'Like an Everflowing Stream' and 'Massive Killing Capacity' are very different sounding albums. The former is a classic example of Swedish death metal with all its twists and turns and intensity, the latter is a mid-paced groove fest before that idea became a bad one.

Also, you can't go wrong with 'Surgical Steel' by Carcass. It's awesome.

It really depends on personal taste because 'regular' Swedish death metal and the 'Gothenburg sound' are almost completely different styles of music. Compare early Entombed to early In Flames for example. In Flames, Dark Tranquillity etc were all about melody. Dismember, Entombed etc were all about traditional death metal themes. They also wore "jogging suits" and played "life affirming death metal". Hail Euronymous.

I'm looking for some post-2000 death metal that I have undoubtedly missed. I'll post some stuff that I already enjoy:

Darkness Eternal - Misanthropic Annihilation
Infinitum Obscure - Internal Dark Force
The Chasm - all 4 albums released since 2000
Deathevokation - The Chalice of Ages
Church Bizarre - Sinister Glorification
Dead Congregation - Graves of the Archangels
Ares Kingdom - Incendiary
Imprecation - Satanae Tenebris Infinita
Repungent - Epitome of Darkness
Grave Miasma - Exalted Emanation
Bolzer - Aura

Anything similar to these would be great.

Father Befouled's Obscurus Nex Cultus -or- Revulsion Of Seraphic Grace
Decrepitaph's Forgotten Scriptures - The Collection
Encoffination's III - Hear Me, O' Death (Sing Thou Wretched Choirs)
Vanhelgd's Church Of Death

I've heard the first Father Befouled before and it seemed like Incantation worship without much of its own voice. I seem to enjoy a lot of the same stuff as you though, so I'll listen to it again along with the others you posted. Thanks!
