Offtime stutter riffing is pretty much the defining characteristic of metalcore. In what way does this differ from say, the first Lamb of God album?

Now, compare it to say, actual death metal from the real Seance:

"They changed it, now it sucks!"

Offtime "stutter riffing" is actually much more characteristic of modern technical death metal, which isn't metalcore. I like old Seance to an extent (not one of my favorite old Swedish death bands) but you're just wrong here. Believe it or not, hardcore breakdowns are the definine characteristic of metalcore and Seance (yes, even the "new Seance") does not have any. Stop being wrong and trolling.

Also the new Tribulation is fantastic. It's easily worth 17 bucks.

When I think of hardcore 'breakdowns' I never think of the silly open string stuff that plagues so many bands today. More along the lines of American Nightmare - I.C. You Are Feeling Drake @ 1:30 and stuff in lotsa crossover bands.

I think I actually agree with Xanthippus (he's still an Anus fag, keep in mind). Not about what's metalcore and not but there's been an annoying trend in the last five years to just take these random start-stop syncronized double bass/chugga chugga (adjective-mania) riffs and put them wherever you can't actually put something inspired, sometimes whole songs. I have nothing against these kind of riffs when they actually fill a purpose and fit in with the rest of the song, like in Metallica's One for example, but nowadays many use these riffs randomly, in many cases you can take any of these riffs and swap what songs they're in and it wouldn't make a difference.

Good point. I agree with that Xantipuss fella that the song sucks ass, V5 may call it "modern techdeath" or whatever instead of -core, but it doesn't change the fact that this -influence- sucks.

How do you discern what "fills a purpose" and what doesn't? It seems like you're using that term as a shoe-in for "I can't get into it" or "well it's easier to think all modern death metal does this so time to ignore it". Even if a riff comes out of nowhere and chugs or does the whole rhythmic double bass following pattern thing, that doesn't mean it has no fucking purpose. I swear you people are weird as hell

Onder: That's not the point though. The crux of the entire thing is that Falco called the new Seance direction "white belt shit" or some equally dumb as fuck remark, the premise and conclusion of which are totally wrong (as I defined).
