what cd did you listen to? i mean, they are a pretty great band. the new one slays. my favorite is the backup singer (drummer?) who sounds like a high pitched demon. definately at least as good as behemoth without the flip flopping genres and having no identity except for trends.

The backup singer would be the main singer too (Glen Benton) who uses layered vocals like that a hell of a lot.

As for Deicide, they're a fucking good band. First 2 (Deicide, Legion) are unearthly in their level of win. 3rd one (Once Upon the Cross) is quite good. Serpents of the Light sounds great. Insineratehymn and In Torment have a couple of good moments but are mostly duff. Scars has a couple of great tracks but on the whole didn't do much for me. Stench of Redemption I didn't listen to. The new one I got today and sounds fairly good on first listen, I reckon it'll grow on me.

I agree that current Deicide is a joke. But I do like their first few albums. Glenn was always gay for satan (assuming Satan is male) but if you look past the retarded lyrics, there is some pretty killer Floridian OSDM to be found on the first two albums.

Deicide were to for me when I first got into EXtreme Metal. Now I see them as absolute shit. Especially Benton.

Stick to the first 2 for sure. Being that I am a Floridian, and live in Tampa, Glenn is a dick. Some of his antics, when he's at a show I know is part show-off, and an attempt to scare people, or intimidate, but he needs to give it a rest. He embarassed himself a few years back, (well, he's been doing it several times)flinching/lunging at people yelling "come on!! who wants to die?" And then, walking up to Children of Bodom's tour bus and banging on their bus door. They looked out...didn't let him in. He tried to save face and stomped off, once again getting in passers-by faces, for no reason. Classy..I guess Satan told him to do it!
