Death and Athiest expirimental albums barely resemble death metal. Demilich is 100% death metal while being expirimental so in death metal it's more significant imo. Pestilence -spheres an Cynic 'focus' might be considered technical but barely resemble death metal also.

Note* Incantation is not originally from New York nor have similiar style to majority of NY death metal. Incantation is darkened and has obvious black metal influence which you can't say is a NY trait.

I don't think anything after Spiritual Healing is full-on death metal.

Anyway, what happened is kinda of mistery in some ways. Bunch a drama priks. Anyway they rule so fucking much. (Nestiphe, and all their demo's and compilation included)

Fucking bullshit. We listen to old washed up bands all the time that made a really good release then went to shit. It would be praised just much as any classic release (whicn it certainly is)

I haven't really gotten into Slumber Of Sullen Eyes yet, it seems to kind of lack anything really special. Of course, it is a bludgeoning yet atmospheric assault, but Demilich is more pronounced and unique in execution...

Ok for the uninformed, can I get a brief summary of what the deal is with this band? They release one album back in the early 90s and have only just split up?

I'm listening to the album now for the first time, the production sucks a fair bit but I like the riffs... and the vocals are hilarious.

In what way is Human not death metal? Only one track (Cosmic Sea) is not death metal in the strictest sense.

Does anybody think that if Demilich were to have continued that they would've stuck with the same style and not expanded anymore? I say Demilich only making one full length wasn't a bad idea.

Not really. It's far less progressive than Athiest, Cynic, etc. Human was rather technical for the time, but it's no different structurally than other death metal of the time.
