Dimmu Borgir, black metal & "Tr00-Kvlt" BM fans

if everything sucks then stop listening to metal and go listening to jazz and stop complaining.... especially if you don't have a band yourself and don't contribute anything to the scene.

i wonder why you're calling me newb, because of the number of post i have..... damn internet warriors hehe.

the only meaning of the word that I'm using here is in the context to your unfamiliarity with Birkenau. Had you been familiar with him you would realize that arguing is pointless. It has nothing to do with longetivity or postcount.

I'd say 99.99% of all releases in general are mediocre or lower
And Blood Inside isn't? The problem with recent Ulver is that about 25% of the material is actually worth listening to. Some aspects are quite good. At times the music and lyrics match up beautifully (In the Red.) The last good thing they did was one of the songs on the Quick Fix EP and the Teachings in Silence EPs. Lykantropen Themes would have made a solid EP had it been condensed from 35 mins to 15-20. Then it would have been on par with Teachings in Silence.

The recent Peccatum material is much better than recent Ulver. Ihriel's Star of Ash album is actually better than Peccatum. It's creative and varied, yet not pointlessly chaotic.

Indiepop with black metal aesthetics isn't exactly "avant-garde"

LoC is a leviathan's side project, actually not really much bm, more ambient, and Arioch is currently working at a new funeral mist album.

i wonder what do you consider good black metal album then...... ?

PS: i don't think Dead wanted black metal to be avantgarde at all.
Arioch is reforming Funeral Mist with Marduk members. Do you think it's going to be any good at all? Not unless you're brick stupid.

Decent black metal releases of the 2000s:
Watain- Rabid Death's Curse
Watain- Casus Luciferi
Funeral Mist- Salvation
Antaeus- Cut Your Flesh and Worship Satan
Averse Sefira- Battle's Clarion
Averse Sefira- Tetragrammatical Astygmata
Graveland- The Dawn of Iron Blades
Krieg- Destruction Ritual
Krieg- Sono Lo Scherno

Yes, that's a complete list.

Drudkh - Forgotten Legends
Drudkh - Autumn Aurora
Nachtfalke - Doomed to Die
Nachtfalke - As the Wolves Died
Deathspell Omega - Si Monvmentvm Reqvires Circvmspice

and I agree with Averse Sefira and Watain.

When did this forum turn into some kind of Something Awful spinoff where people post gimmick images every other post?

From metal-archives.com

"Dimmuborgir is Icelandic for ``dark castle/fortress``. It's a type of lava formation found in Iceland which is - according to local legends - a gateway to hell."

I'm curious about this.
