Doom Metal

You can't go wrong with any Mournign Beloveth album; personally I rec' The Sullen Sulcus and A Disease for the Ages, but both Dust and A Murderous Circus are amazing as well.

Anyone here like catacombs? And how about ahab, new album coming from them soon. They are both funeral doom, but that's still considered doom on these forums right?

I found Catacombs when I was first getting into funeral doom. They're okay, but there are way more interesting bands in the genre. I enjoy the mood of In the Depths of R'Lyeh, but it gets old fast.

Doom fans should check this out. I got it from another forum, it's a compilation of doom bands from Chile, called "Doom, Death and Darkness." Some very good stuff to be found on here, well worth the download.

The majority of the bands on this comp only have demos under their belts. I downloaded it last week and the standouts for me were Wothan, Penuria, and Magna Veritas.

Yeah, those were good, I also liked Aura Hiemis and a few others. Only listened once though, and it's a lot to take in in one sitting. Need to run through it a couple more times.

Uaral's not on that comp. It can't be very good. First Uaral album is amazing.

Yeh, Uaral are flat-out awesome. I'm more familiar with "Sounds of Pain." The acoustic guitar work and piano are stunning along with the flutes and cellos. The one song where a man is weeping for 5 minutes is fuckin' sad. So, all you Alpha males and hard guys better stay away from this. NP- Corrupted--El Mundo Frio. A 72 minute song and it's a beast. This Japanese band take their time in the construction and build-up for this song. Corrupted are in no hurry. Doom, for those hearts that beat slower. As far as the list, Mar De Grises(Ocean Of Grief) and Poema Arcanus are excellent bands.

Just got Dawn of Winter-The Peaceful Dead. Good album, the opening track is an awesome tribute to all the great classic doom bands, I love it.

The new Ahab--"The Divinity of Oceans" will destroy planets. Another excellent funeral/doom release of 09 is Ea II. Sounds like Shape of Despair and Monolithe. Tectonic riffs, crepuscular piano, chants all composed extremely well.

I am really enjoying the Stabat Mater full length. I don't usually enjoy funeral doom but this is fucking amazing.

Mikko finally made something decent.
