Yes, it's my first time voting, and all the politicians in my electorate have been sending me letters, and therefore are now all my friends. 
I was thinking about this today, but in what is basically a two-party system, whoever it is than wins will only have a 1 - 4 % margin. That means that 46 - 49% of the country did not vote for them! When you think about it, that's a fair amount.
There really is no better way to do it though, if we start making rules where a government needs 65% to be elected (for example), we'd never get anywhere.
Just a few thoughts, hehe. I have a lot of time on my hands these days.
