The church burning you can sort of understand.
History goes a big like this, Noway has pagan religion, English preachers go to Norway, Norways suffers approximatly 800 years of inforced Christianity, Black Metal bands form Black Circle and think "fuck this we're going to do what the Christians did to us", go around burning churches and getting a lot of publicity.

I certainly don't condone killing, and I see no reason but fear for burning churches - why else would they go to such length if they did not fear their beliefs were in danger from this "threat"? and if that is so, why not investigate belief instead of attacking a potential competitor? Yet even as I shake my head, I won't deny that they made good music...

I remember there was something on Sky 1 about chavs - some burberry clad old trout claimed that the only reason why people hate chavs is because we're so bored with our own lives. EDIT: By the way: Many churches, like the dome here in Cologne, actually can not be burnt down, because there is not enough flamable meterial. Would be a shame anyway.
Back to topic: Dissection would have been a good reason to go to Wacken this year. - But Emperor makes it nearly a duty to go there next year.

Faust is a good guy, he killed a child molestor. Samoth only did like 2 weeks in jail, and they let him go due to lack of evidence. If they did this shit in America, they would be saying goodbye to their lives.

I was merely mentioning that he is supposedly appearing on the show. I'm sure that the BBC will just edit it to get the biggest shock factor they can, and basically point the finger at all metal bands/fans to say that we are all in league with Satan.

@jon snow: wtf??? ... why do americans always think they are the only "free" people??? ... in europe there is a BIG separation between church and state, WE invented that! it's european philosophers that wrote al those things in the 18th century ... we had all sorts of revolutions in the 18th and 19th century ...
if anything: the United States is the most dominated by religion country in the western world today! don't you listen to your own president??? how many times does he mention god? ... a meeting in the white house has to be started with prair ... social projects can only get good funding when they are religion based (especially christian of course) ... and a million more examples like this.

State and church are separated in Sweden to. It`s up to you if you want to pay tax to the church. I don`t.

In fact, America was the first country that seperated religion and state in its constitution.
But indeed, its scary to see how much influence christian fundamentalists got. If a politicain in Europe would think of himself to be on a mission that was given to him by god, people would think he is insane. And I think they would be right.

The program was going so well... until about quarter of an hour in...
"Slayer are one of the most extreme DM bands..." or something to that effect... I haven't laughed so hard in ages... besides that it seems alright so far...
Half an hour in and we get Mayhem! A brief mention of Varg and all...
The guy who was part of the murders summed it up perfectly,
"loads of people listen to metal and don't kill..."
They should have ended it on that line.
Now there is some idiot saying he saves young people from listening to metal...
And a cool old guy with a cool beard.
So there we have it... it was ok I guess, some funny American parents... Way too much Slayer too...
