How dare you say pagans have no morals, you obviously cannot comprehend any religion other than your judeo- christian hogwash.
Abso-freakin-lutely! GAAAAH! This is why it's impossible to have a conversation with someone who's been completely "saved." It comes down to this -- they're right, you're wrong. As a card-carrying Neo-Pagan, Lutheran, Taoist, Buddhist, Teuton, I must say that limiting your mind is limiting yourself. Limiting yourself is limiting us.
Fezz, as soon as you're sure you have all the answers, your ability to comprehend chance, randomness, change dissolves. The bottom line, in my mind, when you cast around your libel on not only the Catholic church (I don't mind, really, but since the rest of the Christian community is no more pure, I wouldn't be tossing any stones, anywhere), but the foundations of YOUR RELIGION. There would be no Christianity if not for "paganism." There wouldn't be any religion if not for mankind's need to explain that which they don't understand. As such, religions are created by man to pacify man. Does that mean I don't believe in religion? NO. Does that mean I believe there's only one? I'm not THAT stupid. My Christianity is different from anyone elses, why? Because I've assimilated my own truths into it. As the Chinese philosophers say, "to walk on a single leg is foolish, as two, even three provide greater stability." Do my truths translate to anyone else's truths? Hell, no, and I wouldn't be a presumptuous enough prig to try to convince anyone of that. MY missionary gospel-frickin' "good news" is that I have a free mind. THAT's what my deities (yeah, I said DEITIES) desire, value and encourage. I'm sorry that your god discourages free thinking. There are plenty more out there, you know. (actually, as a side-bar, when you get down to it, all deities are fractures of the same shard, thereby supporting mono-theism through pan-theist belief systems. Wheeee!)
Fezz, please, just take your narrow-minded self-assurance and shove it. Not to be mean, but you're coming off sounding more like someone who can't admit to being wrong than someone who knows what they're talking about... Once you're able to accept the fact that your interpretations might be wrong -- or maybe, not even wrong, but rather not as open as they could be -- we might be more inclined to listen. This thread resurrected itself because you couldn't let people think that you might actually be thinking that there were other possibilities out there. AAACK! Why is it so hard to believe that maybe, JUST MAYBE, other people know what they're talking about when it comes to religion not only because they might have more/different facts than you have, but because their interpretation of the "truth" is different?! Does that make them WRONG? NO!!!!!! DIFFERENT!!! Work with me.
(*steps back....breathes*)
OK. Man...miss a dose of Celexa...
Anyway, one more thing and then I'm going to bed... This WHOLE thread started about a question about creationism versus evolutionism. From the sounds of it, Fezz didn't give a rat's ass about either one (because he already knows that a mystical being who exists without being made creating life, the universe and everything is MUCH MORE PLAUSIBLE than stuff just happening (I'm being sarcastic...at this point, I think you all exist because I made you up to stimulate my cortical recesses....)), and it doesn't sound like he cares what we think, anyway, because we're dead wrong heathen dorks, anyway. Feh!
If you don't believe in Evolution, that's fine -- I don't care. I don't care that you choose to ignore your appendix or Adam Oates' prehensile forehead. If you believe Creationism is where it's at, more power to you. Personally, if you can't tell me who made God, I'm as likely to buy into that as I am the Big Bang. (where'd the stuff to go BANG come from?) That said, don't pander to me like I'm some sort of unwashed idiot who can't discern truth from sensationalized science fiction. Like I said, I made you all up. Pick up the Information Society's "Hack" and listen over and over to "I can make you ALL go away. ANY time I want to." and that's how I feel, right now.
Oh, and blended fabrics are a sin becuase. Just because. Same reason answering a telephone on the Sabbath is considered "work," therefore a sin. If you've never played "Whimsical Deities" you're missing out.
*rummages through medicine cabinet* Good night. And try not to be offended. I don't care one way or the other, but if you were in the room with me right now, I'd be red-faced, but smiling.
