George Kollias from Nile, Marco Minnemann ex-drummer from Racer X and current drummer of Necrophagist, Flo is a Beast, Dominator from Dark funeral, Martin Lopez is a master of flow, and I know he doesn't play metal but Gavin Harrison from Porcupine Tree.

2 of the best drummers are Tony Royster Jr. (his stuff now) and Neil Peart. You've also got Carter Beauford and Jo Jo Meyer that are really musical drummers. Mike Mangini is tasteless imo. It's all 4/4! I also find that portnoy is overrated. Same with Flo! I saw cryptopsy last year play after a local band (Deamon) and their drummer Tim was sooooo much better. Dave Weckle is also fantastic.

My Favorite metal drummers are:
Conny Peterson (Anata)
George Kollias (Nile)
Axe (Bloodbath, Opeth)
Derek Roddy (I don't even know anymore...)
Gene Hoglan (ex-Death, Strapping Young Lad)
Richard Christie (ex-Death, Iced Earth)

Surprised that so few have mentioned Thomas Haake, he really is bloody great.

Other personal favourites include Danny Carey, Martin Lopez, Hellhammer (von Blomberg), Gavin Harrison and Ole Öhman.

Pretty clean man! Nice alternating between open and cross over styles. I'm trying to learn open style but it's taking some time. Little baby steps

Thanks dude! One thing I did at a point to learn "left-leading" better was that I turned my whole drumset left-handed and played some simple stuff that way, starting from Metallica's Black Album and working my way towards more technical stuff from there. My left hand still doesn't groove quite like my right hand, but that's the ultimate thing. The day I can play Rosanna by Toto "perfectly" with my left hand leading, that's the day I'll be happy with it. You can pick up the speed quite fast when you just jam through some thrash stuff with your left hand on the hi-hat. Metallica's Master of Puppets and Justice are quite ideal stuff for that, until you get to tempos 200 and over.

lol, I'm starting that. My right hand is fine, but using my left my blasts max out around 200bpm. My feet are getting better and better though. Once I record something I'll post it

Here, got some vids up. Tell me what you think! (The guitars suck and you can;t hear the bass drum...sorry):

At least your guitarist seems to have too much distortion on or then his amp/cab is way too small according to the feedback/squeeling. It takes a lot of endurance to keep those kicks running through the whole song. One thing that bothered me, and is very the case with many drummers, that when you play the double bass, you forget about your balance (soundwise) and your snare doesn't cut through the rest of the banging going on. The worst thing you can do, is to cover up your snare by hitting the cymbals too hard. I'm not totally sure though if that's only due to the quality of the recording in this case. You seem a bit tense here though, might be just the camera pointing at you making you nervous. You keep your time quite good, that's very important. You do very good in the mid-tempos. It would be nice to see some high-tempo stuff too!

Nice rehearsal-place btw... :D

lol, thanks =) It's funny that people think I look tense.....I didn't feel tense, but I'll keep that in mind. I have my drums tuned perfectly (we record things once in a while) and you can hear everything perfect in the room. I do really worry about balance; the problem is we were using a digital camera to record everything so the sound quality is shit. I'll give a higher tempo song a shot soon enough; we tried symbolic but no dice lol
