Favorite Opeth ballad?

To Bid you farewell is just sus2, sus4, and minors, giving it a very sexy and beautiful sound. Reminds you of wandering the forest in the morning. The ending reminds me of Godsmack with the vocal harmonies, except he sounds miserable and the distortion is very generic sounding.

Face of Melinda is superior in every way, with very unorthodox chord usage, MUCH more skilled picking and guitar wanking (yet still have beautiful vocal melodies going along with the complex guitar playing), much fuller singing, and the ending distortion PWNS in every way: much more powerful, and when he's not singing, you got some really nice riffage going on. Alot more thought went into this song so Face of Melinda = Greater song.

You're an idiot.

Half of the songs people are listing aren't even ballads, they're just mellow. The only real ballads they have are To bid you farewell, face of melinda, credence, and harvest. Ballads are very poetic, usually epic in nature, and most commonly deal with love or loss of love. I guess that the bonus disc songs of BWP could be a strech, but barely. Out of those songs I would pick harvest as my favorite.

because face of melinda > to bid you farewell. the heavy part in tbyf=lame. the heavy part in face of melinda=incredible. not even a fair comparison

Ok that is it .... i read this forum for a long time and you're by far the most hmmm disconnected person here by far.

You're either a genius in being a retard or you really try to push people's limit to the .... limit.

None of what i read coming from you make sense. I don't know on which planet you live and i don't want to know unless you stop being such a dick.

GET A JOB ALREADY so we can have a little time off from you.

Thanks

stfu, I'm right. sus2, sus4, and minors is very beautiful sounding and shit, but that is all it has going for it (and a really nice solo), it's rather simple compared to Melinda's Face, and the only reason people like it more is because of the pleasing nature of the sus2 and sus4 "sounds" and not the talent put into the writing/composing. The distortion is pretty generic, and the vocal harmonies are pretty miserable, all out of tune and weak (Still a pretty good song though, just that part is ugh). Face of Melinda is just inherently superior in every way.

Maybe to bid you farewell or Face of Melinda. Though I also really love To Rid the disease.

To Bid you Farewell & In My Time of Need
Yes! Both of these songs are great. TBYF is probably my all time favorite Opeth song. IMTON is my favorite Damnation song. They both have the same feel, just a great atmosphere, they are just beautiful.

One thing I noticed about you is that is that you are always on this board. How can you sit in front of your computer for so long? I'm just curious, don't take it as an insult.
