FAWK MIXING TIMEZ! : DI's & Midi included

thats definately a possiblity. so if iv mixed it too loud its going to clip when i master it?

Yep. I usually aim for my mix to be around -12 before any form of mastering takes place.

You may think that seems quiet, but its not about getting the mix super loud. Who cares if its quiet in the mix? Turn your speakers up!

It depends what you consider mastering to be. Loudness, stereo enhancement etc. But its crucial to get a good sound mixing with lots of head room for mastering. If you have a good sounding mix, mastering should be painless

I will place each new reamp experiment here rather than
posting a new message for each reamping experiment that I do.
These DI's are good and I plan to reamp them a number of times
to get reamping experience, I will not be adding the vocals to the mix.
Any comments on the reamp tone is welcome.

Current Mix
-------------
This reamp experiment is a blend between a high gain and a low gain tone.

do you like it?? I'ts my first time when I used Superior Drum :/ https://dl.dropbox.com/u/11490091/DEADWEIGHT2.mp3

Guitars sound really odd, and the drums are really quiet overall, kick is almost non-existent.

The snare is a little bit... Short, dry and small.
The cymbals sound very thin and has an annoying peak. Other then that. Very good.

Thanks a lot, drums are ezdrummer, everything but the kick and 50% of the snare at least (replaced with sneap kick sample, sneap snare blended with ez snare). I agree that the snare is pretty tiny, I had a hard time finding a good verb to put on it too so I didn't use much at all. As for the cymbals, I guess I'll have to work a bit on EQing those, I usually just try to hide them in the mix because they sound so balls.:D
