It's like when I first got into craft beer around 16 years ago. So many different beers and styles were blowing my fucking mind left and right but now, at this point in my life, I've tasted so many godamn beers that it's literally impossible for me blow a nut over a beer. Everything is merely a good beer...nothing more, nothing less. And this is the primetime of craft beer brewing in the world. And you know what? I bitch and moan about it all the time. I complain all the time how the hipsters have ruined it and the "scene" is an abomination and nothing like how it used to be, just as Spikes said, "Back in the day..."
That Soldat Hans album is massive--does remind me of Kayo dot's first album in spots--although the heavier parts are more of sludge variety--definitely a great recommendation. I already know of the Lynchgate. That Wrekmesister Harmonies album was definitely a great one.
Good call on the craft beer---I remember the first time I went to C town-ny market-and they had a whole beer section--first time I had ever seen this (probably was like 2005). They even had little beer advocate review tags on everything..my first stout was old rasputin-, every week was something new, --now.. not as much ha. Back in the day indeed.
Good call on the Vehemence album MFJ--good stuff. Hopefully Obsequiae comes out with something new this year.
That Entropia album is indeed awesome. Poland definitely has a lot going on, and give no fucks--I have some below.
Here is a few things that maybe people will grab on to.
^^ They have two other releases, but have clearly grown a ton in just 2 years. Some noteworthy bass and drums push it even more
^^ For a first release--this is really great stuff--not completely reinventing the wheel--but just solid songwriting. They have one recent release as well-
Some assorted Polish weirdness (I think you guys already know Furia). The poles like to keep the bass right up front where I like it:
^^ no fucks
See above
More metal than the first two--but loopy--bouncy
^^ This is their first album..so they certainly started off out there.
^^ This band had one demo before this, but already showing a dynamic sound
^^ Doom/sludge from Japan--with alot going on. This is their first release-- A wide variety of vocals, bells, bass, etc. Their heavier parts remind me of another band--but I can't put my finger on it. they have two more albums after this one-
Njiqahdda is a band with a shit ton of releases (too much to sift through)--I've heard a few of their more bm ones (some of them are solid)--this is one of their recent ones--a lot less black metal here more--more clean vox here, some droney rock, sprinkling of electronics--I like it. Like circle of ouroborus--the sheer volume of releases is daunting, so i'm not sure what else is in the same style.
Lastly, I'll plug A Pregnant Light again on this forum. His stuff is criminally underrated--and APL is definitely one of my favorite bands at the moment--they have a lot material, but mostly ep's and demos. Their music started off as a mix of lo-fi bm/hardcore, postpunk
etc-eventually progressing and getting better on the production side of things-- The main guy also has a few side projects that are close to APL- and a ton of other bands-- While the band started in 2011, you can definitely see a nice evolution of the sound. Not to say there wasn't experiments early on (see Most High Place and Live to Tell below)--but, definitely overall better songwriting later on--- and so damn catchy.
^^ From their first demo-
^^ Live to Tell-only the band's third release.
Most High Place--within two years of their first demo.
^^ songwriting has increased by now---some more leads thrown in here and there--
love this track ^^
