French metal

[challenge_everything]

Hey guys

I'm moving to France next year and need to get into more French bands, so what can you recommend?

I love Elend, DSO, Arkhon Infaustus, Alcest, Peste Noire and all the rest of Neige's projects, Blut Aus Nord.

Any genre is OK but I generally prefer the slightly more melodic or progressive side of the metal spectrum.

I know The Old Dead Tree, I bought one of their albums. It's fucking nu-metal! Very good nu-metal in comparison to most, mind you, but nu-metal nonetheless.

I know Gojira already too

If you will be living there soon I think you should get into the scene & go to some shows then you cna come back & give us some good recommendations I would like to hear some French Prog. I know France has a little Black Metal scene, but I would like to hear some other stuff.

For sure, I'm just hoping that the live scene lives up to the album output from there. BM is not the best genre for live shows, when so many albums are not recorded by full bands.

I just got some Monarch! (sic) and have only listened to it once, but it's deliciously disturbing, if you like the doom/drone/experimental thing. If not, never mind.
