... not the whole board. I couldn't give any less of a shit about manowar. They're okay at best. Nothing they have even comes close to being mentioned in the same breath as Haunting the Chapel. But he does get a nod from me for having RtL in his top 3, where it belongs.

Overrated I don't agree with as I feel they're mocked about as much as they're praised, but I agree that they're pretty fucking inconsistent.

HAIL TO ENGLAND is one of the more consistent albums from this year though, deserves its place.

I would say Hail to England is the best Manowar album that I've heard so far. The most consistent and most memorable out of the first four. I checked out The Triumph of Steel based on what CIG was saying about it and that's pretty solid but I need to spin it some more to figure out if that's the second best Manowar album or not. I've listened to that one once and listened to the first 4 several times through.

That's a fair point. They do seem to polarize people. I dislike their fans and their perpetual "you're not a real man if you don't jack off to the cover of Into the Glory Ride at least three times a week" nonesense much more than I feel disdain for their music. The vocalist is obviously very gifted and the musicians are skilled. The stuff I've heard is mostly good but not great with a few legit classics peppered in. I do think the more rock they are the less metal they are, the more they descend toward mediocity.

Their imagery and album covers are fucking' cringeworthy and i have to question anyone that considers that shit "metal". More like pretentious goofball posers to me. Nothing metal about dressing up in leather thongs and posing for pictures. And to top it off the band members are top notch douches who think way too highly off themselves. I can proudly say i am not a fan of them.

And like i said, average at best. There is nothing they do that countless other bands dont do better ... except play dress up.

7) Trouble (Psalm 9) by Trouble
It's too late to cry to the Lord...

"What are the Sabbath rip-off moments on Psalm 9? To me, Trouble is by far one of the most distinctive and individual of all the early trad doom bands. I mean, if we're going to discuss rip-offs, Candlemass nicked a bunch of Trouble riffs/ideas early on. Psalm 9 got rid of all the relaxed/"stoner" vibe of Black Sabbath (and Pentagram) and replaced it with tight and aggressive thrashy riffage. The musicianship was also way ahead of most of their contemporaries; listening to the instrumental Endtime you don't even need Watchtower to hear where Confessor got their inspiration." - @HamburgerBoy
