how in the world is it not generic? And there is no comparison to classic NYHC in any way outside of it being sprinkled with small doses of crossover. I'm no sure we're even talking about the same record here.

I actually agree that the hardcore/metalcoreness of both Power Trip and a lot of stuff like that Earth Crisis song is overstated. Metalcore bands got that riffing from thrash metal.

Seems a little difficult to prove something is not generic. It's vanilla, sure, but high-grade vanilla. Who could Power Trip be called a clone of? A person could make comparisons to Exodus, Razor, Earth Crisis, sure, but

Since discovering the new Anatomia album at the last minute (yesterday) I've been able to listen to the whole thing once. Not enough to comfortably put it in my top 10 but fucking hell it rips and oozes. It has to go into the second 10 of my top 20.

Thanks to @Omni @Krow and @Funerary_Doom for spreading the Malokarpatan album around the forum, I doubt I would've found it/checked it out if not for you guys and it ended up being really awesome.

Haven't heard it but I see that is just 3 tracks from Portal of I so yes maybe. The problem is I played out that first album, and didn't even know that was possible for such an album, but I listened to it multiple times a day every day while writing my math thesis for a couple months

Shit yea it does. It strikes a perfect balance production wise too. It has that vintage warmth while still being faithful to dem riffffs

Surprised Dopelord has made it onto a couple of lists already as you could probably exchange them with 999 other stoner/doom bands, but the vocals are particularly cromulent.

At first I thought Danzig just had 1 or 2 decent tracks, but I'm starting to appreciate it as an album. Nearly the whole thing has a nonchalant mood which reminds me of Crawl Across Your Killing Floor, one of my favourite Danzig songs.
