1. Vulture's Vengeance - The Knightlore



Gotta go into full hyperbole for this one; absolutely unreal, magical heavy metal, epic riffs and solos blazing like a warrior on his last fucking glorious ride. As much as I love the next entry on my list there's an enormous gulf between them. A once in a generation masterpiece

It's the call of the thunder, heard by the brave ones that don't fear fate!

2. Megaton Sword - Niralet



More epic heavy metal, this time more muscular and direct but impressively well realized for a debut release (these guys didn't even have a demo out prior to this!)

I stand my ground

Don’t care if the darkest darkness embraces my hall
In fact, I AM THE GROUND!
Nothing under my feet other than the lacerated bodies of my enemies!

3. Ultra Silvam - The Spearwound Salvation



Raging hateful Swedish black metal in the old way

And from the twisting chasm cunt
The sinister abortion - Abaddon emerge!

4. Riot City - Burn the Night



Everyone seems to prefer Electric Elite but I think this one has the edge. Definitely like this vocalist more. Just classic heavy metal with boundless energy

Watch out they'll come to get you

With no promise you'll survive!

Ripping Chilean thrash, riffs and savagery, no more words really needed

6. Necroripper - Amulepe Taiñ Weichan



Another CHILE THRASH album, this one even more underheard. Features a vocalist than can summon Atilla's DMDS voice at will to great effect. Highly recommended

7. Mefitis - Emberdawn



In crowd album of the year I guess? Classic melodic Finnish/Swedish sound anyway

8. Darkthrone - Old Star



Old man Darkthrone has grown on me in a big, big way in the couple of years. Packed with riffs and an undeniable, undying metal spirit

9. Mystik - Mystik



Satanic Swedish sluts with some serious speed metal chops

Covered in spikes and leather
And core made of steel!

10. Smoulder - Times of Obscene Evil and Wild Daring



Epic heavy/doom. Saw some people making comparisons to Eternal Champion but I don't really hear it - this vocalist doesn't have half the passion or charisma for a start. Good stuff though

We'll just run them all one after another, it can be like the way they used to paint the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Start at one end in January, go right around and by the time it's finished it's December they need to start again.
