GMD Votes: Top Thrash Metal Albums (Prelim Round)

I initially hated Artillery, then I went through a short phase where they grew on me a little, and then I realized that no, the vocals are terrible, and most of the writing is also. At least you can make an argument for Megadeth based on the music.

The writing on the first three is amazing bro. Hints of Sabbath influence and lots of groove on the first one, doesn't sound anything like your typical 1985 thrash debut. Terror Squad really brought the tight, almost-techy riffing in, and By Inheritance took that further by adding tons of NWOBHM-influenced melody on top. Some of the best written Euro-thrash there is.

You guys need to start voting for Weave the Apocalypse.

Top ~40 album imo, excellent stuff but a little too short and not super-diverse.

i'm going to have to pull Vektor and Hexen out.

Hexen could be debatable. But Vektor might deserve the #1 spot in my mind. I can't think of a thrash band I'd rather listen to at this moment. They're the pinnacle of modern tech thrash, easily competitive with the old school bands too all things considered.
