You all know the drill at this point:

List your 15-25 greatest albums in order by picking from the genres below. The top 20 scoring albums will advance to the next round.

The choices MUST be full-length albums. No EPs or shit like that. There will be no exceptions to this rule.

Here are the genres:

Sludge
Other doom metal (not trad or death/doom)
Progressive Metal
Euro Power Metal
Metalcore
Groove metal
Industrial metal
Ambient
Folk metal
Goth metal
Post metal/ post black metal, etc.

Please do not put comments next to the albums. Instead, put them below your choices.

Also, please use the following format:

1) Opeth - Morningrise

This makes it easier for me to parse the data. You are not obligated to use it, but I will be less inclined to be a dick if you use this standard. I can also compile the data faster.

Happy voting!

Ambient isn't metal.

EDIT: Was groove included in the thrash list last time? I'd definitely include Cowboys from Hell if it's allowed.

Gonna post it anyways

And no, Elements is not a death metal album.

nice call on helmet. fantastic run of 4 awesome albums. saw them live twice. they destroyed the melvins and primus

I still haven't heard anything past Betty, they seem like a band where I'd burn myself out if I tried listening to everything they've done, but I'll check out their fourth is its good.

 So is Obscura "not a death metal album" as well? Elements is one of the earliest examples of true proggy technical death metal.

It has maybe two death metal riffs, max, single bass drumming, and no death metal vocals. If that makes it death metal, anything is.

25) Ava Inferi - Onyx

Atheist -Unquestionable Presence is one of the best metal albums, but I never really listened to it like a death metal album. I did not like Elements or the reformed album.

I don't think that the first two Atheist albums are very deathly either, but at the very least they're somewhere in the death/thrash vicinity. Elements is its own thing pretty far removed from either.

Great choices man, let's take some sludge to the next round. Pretty surprised you didn't list Souls at Zero, whereas you chose Enemy of the Sun. The same thing with Panopticon.

I'll make a list. I'm a little saddened by the first votes though, looks like this is going to be a thrash and black metal leftovers list but c'est la vie.

Hmmm, I don't know why I didn't think of Panopticon. I'd put Kentuky or Roads to the North on the list. Phenomenal records.

As for Souls at Zero, it's a great record, but I'm trying avoid having a list that is only Opeth, Neurosis, Agalloch, and My Dying Bride.
