I won't participate in this round. I only have got three albums from this year, out of which I consider Nektar's "A Tab in the Ocean" the most enjoyable, followed by Birth Control's "Hoodoo Man". The third album is Genesis' "Foxtrot", but it does nothing for me. It's my least favourite with Peter Gabriel on vocals and doesn't contain a single song I really like.

1. WIshbone Ash - Argus. Not entirely perfect - I can do without the bluesy tracks - but when they get going with the prog epics with the dual guitar leads, it's just mindblowing. And 'Leaf and Stream' is one of the most beautiful songs ever.

2. Focus - Focus 3. Exactly what I want from progressive rock - loose and jammy but coherent and flowing, without all that twee folksy Village Green bullshit that cluttered so much of the UK scene.

3. Captain Beyond - Captain Beyond
4. Nektar - A Tab in the Ocean
5. Yes - Close to the Edge
6. David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust
7. Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick
8. PFM - Storia di un Minuto

Yeah. Plus it's three fewer people than we had for the previous poll, and two fewer than the last 70's poll we did.

I have a enough for a top 8, as I do not feel I can justify including the albums with 10 points and only one vote that are tied for 9th. However, this has just been going on too long, so my plan is to just post tonight.

1972 Top Ten

1.) David Bowie - Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust...
2.) Deep Purple - Machine Head
3.) Uriah Heep - Demons and Wizards
4.) Nick Drake - Pink Moon
5.) Genesis - Foxtrot
6.) Neu! - Neu!
7.) Ornette Coleman - Science Fiction
8.) Renaissance - Prologue
9.) Joni Mitchell - For the Roses
10.) Rory Gallagher - Deuce

Not as hard as I thought to be honest. Upset that I couldn't throw down Budgie or Sabbath.
