GNMD Poll: Top Ten Albums of 1978

I said I'd consider keeping the album out. It was just the first debatable example that came to mind. But when I re-listened to the album in full I decided it's not even as heavy as Rush - Hemispheres and so I kept it on this side of the fence. Note I never claimed it's a 'metal album'. It's a hard rock album. Even if I chose not to list it, I'd still argue that others should be allowed to list it here if they want to.

Budgie are most definitely metal. Like a badass cross between Black Sabbath and Rush.

On average, yes. But by their 6th album If I Were Brittania I'd Waive The Rules they'd dialled it down a bit and were more like a cross between The Who and Rush. Impeckable is more like Led Zeppelin without the folky stuff, and doesn't have anything as metal as the heaviest bits on Zep's debut. Their 3rd softest album is probably You're All Living In Cuckooland which is more alternative rock (and would be as out of place in a metal list as CKY is). I think those 3 albums should be allowed in the non-metal rankings. The one which would be absolute borderline is Deliver Us From Evil, as it varies between AOR and songs more in the vein of Judas Priest.

Perhaps. A punk game for example might have been more easily narrowed down.
