I hit my strings hard and palm mute them like nobodys bitch and 2 guitars ago I had 1 string snap No strings have snapped on my current guitars. Ever! The 7 string had really worn strings though. I had trouble getting the B string out of the tuning machine head because the string started to actually unwind itself from it's core That's how worn they were. I could actually take a tong and pull it so it started unwinding and exposing the core.

I use EB and tried Electro Harmonix strings some days ago.. woah, don't know if you ll like it but i hate that sound
they sound pretty metallic.

It could possibly be your bridge/saddles that is causing the string breakage.

Do you remember where on the string that it broke? Was it near the ball end, or right where it lays over the saddle?

Or you are just doing it wrong lol sorry had to keep the joke going

D'Addarios always seem to get dirty quicker than any other strings, to me. Probably just my imagination. Besides those and Ernie Ball, which I don't like, I've tried DR and Curt Mangan.. I think they're spelled this way. Everyone I know around here loves the CM strings, and I guess I would have to agree that they're nice strings.

I've only ever snapped a string once, when I first got my guitar with the floyd and pulled it all the way back as far as it would go like 50 times a day. I can't see how you could possibly break so many strings. Iunno, try changing the way you restring altogether, like start with the low E, then the G, then the A, then the B and so on? Or try a heavier guage? I dunno, just throwing ideas out.

As a side note, the Ernie Ball factory, or at least one of them, is located here in my city. A friend of mine worked for them for a while, and he said it suuuuucked, and you can really see the poor quality of their guitar when you can see them being built. XD

I don't know if that can help, but on my strat replica, my strings used to break a lot, right at the saddle, but they wouldn't really break, the winding would break and only the core would remain, but I had to change them anyway. Turns out the saddles were kinda sharp and they would cut the strings... the luthier smoothened them, don't know how he did that but anyway, it got rid of the issue. Now my strings do the same thing when they break but it takes a lot of playing before they break.

They always break near the machine heads, that's where I fuck up the re-stringing process.

Need some help!
I think I will buy an Edwards guitar next month but I'm not sure if I should get one with MM-04 because I can also have a Je-1200 if I want. I already have a MM-04 in my Alexi guitar which sounds great but I'm also interested in the sound of a Je-1200. Some guy would sell me his Je-1200 plus 2 J-200 for 100 dollar but for the MM-04 I would pay the same.
So can I get the same sound from a MM-04 when I juts push the mids and a bit of gain?

I'd get the MM04 one and then try the Je1200. If you like it, you keep it and you'll do something out of the MM04 one day, if not you go back to the MM04 which you already know and like if I'm not mistaken

I watched it like 100000 times last time I was restringing, it just said to pull it taught and pull it or something, I do that, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

rubbing graphite/lead on the groove of saddles helps a lot with string breakage especially on floyds

Thanks guys, They went through the demo submissions and picked the 5 bands to play battle of the bands and Billy Mays War Machine was picked!!!

I'm so fucking pumped, Even if it is just a joke band and we only have 25 min to play including setup/teardown, I haven't played a show in about a year and a half so I'M READY TO DESTROY ALL THE OTHER 4 ALT-ROCK/PUNK BANDS

We have 3 more rehearsals scheduled next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and then the battle is on Thursday night! I'll make sure to get it recorded on video.


On another note, expect to see my "real" band emerge within the next month.
We've been working extremely hard to organize, write and record for this band since September 08 and its been really hard to keep it under wraps. But with us all graduating from college in 2010, it's fucking time to dominate.

Well, I think I'll get another MM-04 because I've read on different forums that the Je-1200 shouldn't be the best thing you can get and 100 dollar for just +6db at 650HZ is a bit expensive...

Get the pink, dude! I know you already got the white one, so the sawtooth would be the same thing with a different paint job. The pink one has the new styled cutaway and the scalloped frets.
