do i need a special/different guitar srand for a alexi liaho/ v shape model? or will the standard 'cradle' do?

You will need either a hercules stand

Or a wall hanger.

A simple cradle won't be able to support the guitar.

hey do you guys use that picking technique where you repeat the upstroke or downstroke as sweeping everytime you change to the next string ???

i dont know how its called. anyway i suck at it and i was wondering if its a common technique and if alexi uses it...

Like guy above said, Economy Picking. Common? Perhaps, but not many people use the technique very well. And no, Alexi doesn't use it. When picking he uses strict alternate. But that doesn't mean that you shouldn't use it; it can be a useful tool in your playing.

I tend to economy pick, and it's good for some riffs and not others. Sometimes I have to make sure I learn riffs with strict alternate picking because it just sounds more even than economy. But for some riffs, it sounds more fluid if I economy pick it rather than alternate.

As far as the stand thing goes- my guitar stand is one of those where you can put three guitars on it, and each one of the cradles on it pivots. So I've got a strat style guitar on one cradle, a classical guitar on the second and my alexi on the third. So as long as the cradle can spin, it's fine. But those hercules stands would probably work better, and they're not any more expensive than regular stands, as far as I've seen.

thank you... i saw the hellion solo on alexi documentary and i was surprised to see alexis right hand picking during the last scale run i thought he used economy... i personally cant do alternate or economy that fast when changing strings...

Need some help!
I think I will buy an Edwards guitar next month but I'm not sure if I should get one with MM-04 because I can also have a Je-1200 if I want. I already have a MM-04 in my Alexi guitar which sounds great but I'm also interested in the sound of a Je-1200. Some guy would sell me his Je-1200 plus 2 J-200 for 100 dollar but for the MM-04 I would pay the same.
So can I get the same sound from a MM-04 when I juts push the mids and a bit of gain?

Yeah Lowburgarmanz, I listened to it when you sent me it last night. Forgot to comment.

It was awesome, vocals are really great and overall very good! :kickass:

i just had a fucking horrible experience with string snapping
does anyone here use any other string brands other than EB or D'Addario?
Not implying that those are bad strings, or that they're liable to snap AT ALL, just considering trying out other brands.

i've always used D'Addario, and i hit those bitches hard... i only snapped the E a couple times

Basically I was putting a new set of D'Addarios on and the high E snaps. No big deal, I have backup strings, so I get out my "backup" set of Ernie Balls, put the high E on and a few days later (today) it snaps while I'm playing. I got pissed because I had to go into my second set of D'Addarios, which were meant to be my actual next set, not a backup set, I was putting the high E from that set on, but I screwed up the winding part so it snapped due to my own fault. But that was just the last one.
Now I have two unfinished packs of strings and no high E :(

Shut up.
