Have you ever been threated like a freak, because you are a Metalhead

Rarely have I gotten weird looks, mainly only if I'm wearing some kind of obscene metal shirt... something that either says something offensive, or with something graphic, like a Slayer or Morbid Angel shirt or something.

But generally no... Hippies with long hair, or metallers like me have been common for a long time in this area, where it's not uncommon to see a Laywer or Doctor with hair half way down their backs.

When I was younger, yes, all the time, but I was dressed to get a reaction, so that doesn't really count.

Sure, but not extremely.

When I was younger, it was okay, yet I was the black sheep of the family anyway because I listened to Metal.

Nowadays, people wanna force-feed me "their" music...
"At your age, you really oughta act like a grown-up, dress your age and listen to music that suits you better (at your age). Your teens are over...." blah blah yadda yadda.

I let them listen to their stuff, now please let me listen to my favorite music. Funky close-mindedness...

 My mother used to say shit like that. "Cut your hair and look like adult that you are." "Can't you wear other than black clothes?"... Well, she don't do that anymore, maybe she had figured out that I'm not going to change.

I've always been the anti-stereotype to the "metalhead", being clean-cut, quiet (at least until I get a couple pints in me  ), always used to get the top marks in school and stay out of trouble (never caught, anyway). So when people find out that I like metal, they're usually surprised first of all, but then they either make a joke about "where are they now?" or talk down their nose to me (if they're not into metal themselves). Fuck'em.

If they're open-minded, we can have a good discussion about music, and I'll be open minded about whatever they listen to. But if they try and tell me that my music is no good and force feed me their music, well, I force feed it right back...

So you think stereotype of "metalhead" is stupid and noisy?!?! Where the fuck you have found that kind of stereotype? Those "metalheads" who are my friends, are mostly good in school and quiet guys.

Being a female in my late 30's, the worst I get these days are comments like "Aren't you a little old for that kind of music?"..to which I usually just laugh & shake my head.

yes, and it's very amusing, some people looks at me in fear, like if they're gonna get beaten or something, it's cool because I don't have people around me acting like asses

I'm treated like a freak, but only from long distances by groups of 3 or more. This seems to be at least partly to do with the fact that my karate training has honed my body so i don't look like a tiny little 5 foot 8 (170cm) tall guy who you could pick up with one hand. I've only ever been attacked once, and that was because i was with someone they didn't like (who has beaten the crap out of them a good few times) so he picked on me because i was her friend. my friend stopped me from fighting back though (he ran up behind and hit me on theside of the head, which barely made me flinch, btw.) because she just had a visions of me smashing his head off the pavement until it wasn't a head anymore. strangely enough so did i.

Other than that, i don't normally get much shit. But i know that when people look at me they think something like "he's a freak". but i look at it this way:

When an animal evolved in a species, it was always outcast as a freak. therefore, as humans are animals and it was an instict for the more-evolved creature to be outcast, we who are treated sa freaks (heavy-metal fans) are more highly evolved than the rest of the human species. so take pity on those lower beings, for they are very stupid and have no idea of the truth. or then again, jsut fuck 'em and live the way you want to. :)

 exactly the same case with me.

People say I should I should cut my hair, mainly some girls (who want me... heh), and try to make me into a conformer...

Not that I am not a conformer, I am a nice bloke to all, I just happen to have long hair, wear band shirts and like metal...

Never really treated like a freak... although the Black Metal fucks at school look at me all mean because I like all metal (like the 'gay' power metal), not just "evil true metal for close minded pagans" or what not... :p I still like Black Metal though...

Heh, they think they are true... they think CoF and Dimmu are true... HAHA... well, good, but not true...

Anyway... damn goth black metallers...
