I've always been the anti-stereotype to the "metalhead", being clean-cut, quiet (at least until I get a couple pints in me ), always used to get the top marks in school and stay out of trouble (never caught, anyway). So when people find out that I like metal, they're usually surprised first of all, but then they either make a joke about "where are they now?" or talk down their nose to me (if they're not into metal themselves). Fuck'em.
If they're open-minded, we can have a good discussion about music, and I'll be open minded about whatever they listen to. But if they try and tell me that my music is no good and force feed me their music, well, I force feed it right back...
