Heaviest Song Ever!

Well...i would have to say the entire album of DYING FETUS-Killing On Adrenaline is so fucking heavy and also brutal. It has it all.Speed,Crushing mid-sections(heavy as fuck). And i have ISIS doing a GODFLESH cover which is just monolithicly HEAVY.Put it on a good sound system and your head will explode.
Mark my words.

It seems lots of people are giving different meanings to "heavy". I'd say heavy is well, heavy, kinda slow with ultra heavy crushing riffs, so for instance Metallica's Damage Inc. definitely is NOT heavy in that sense, it's fast, aggressive etc. (and good of course) but not heavy. Heavy Metallica songs are "To Live Is To Die", "Leper Messiah" and "Harvester Of Sorrow".

I'd say a song like Anathema's "Sweet Tears" is ultra heavy, so are more of their songs, like "Mine Is Yours To Drown In" or "They Die". My Dying Bride's "The Night He Died" is also very heavy.

Pretty damn heavy if you ask me :D

yea, that is a pretty heavy song!

and the new Meshuggah is VERY heavy! Type O Negative's World Coming Down album is also damn heavy.

also, the band MELVINS. one of the heaviest, sludgiest bands ever, if not the heaviest and sludgiest. just check out their album Bullhead, and you'll see what i mean.

There´s a difference between heavy and brutal. Like, Wind Of Horus with Nile, it´s more brutal than heavy. The new Meshuggah is heavy. Neurosis is heavy. Black Sabbath is heavy. Candlemass is heavy. Death metal isn´t heavy, it´s brutal.

i agree. i've never understood why people equate speed/brutality with heaviness. the heaviest music is generally very slow, like Cathedral for instance. the two heaviest albums i've heard are ISIS' Celestial and Neurosis' Times of Grace. i would venture to say that 'Glisten' and 'Gentle Time' by ISIS are the heaviest songs ever recorded.

I personally never equated heavy with slow. Slow can be, and is, heavy, but to me heaviness doesnt correllate with the meter. Slayer's heavy, and theyre fast, and St Vitus is heavy, and theyre slow. Heavy to me is a feeling, so its not easily narrowed down to a specific tempo.

"Heavy" Metal isnt slow in general. For the most part, Heavy Metal as a whole is nuttier than the other genres out there.

...*shakes her head*....

I you want heavy, go to doom. I doubt you'll find many bands
heavier than Earth and Sunn O))). Drone doom at its extremes.
Other options are of course a lot of the funeral doom bands,
such as Thergothon, Skepticism and early Funeral, Unholy and
Shape of Despair. Great combinations of heavy and slow as hell. :notworthy

But of course. :p

I'm... just getting into doom, but by far, doom is by far the 'heaviest' metal.
