How Californians see America

HA HA that is how I pretty much see the U.S.

Except some places would be associated with certain bands/people.
Seattle being nevermore/Starbucks/Kevin
Florida=old people/Savatage/Crimson Glory/Disney

stuff like that.

apparently there ISN'T THAT MUCH RAIN THERE AFTERALL, KAREN.

 No no, hookerpants, it does rain here often but not just as much as everybody thinks. Hell, I wish it did.....I love the rain!

It rains here more so than a lot of places but it's not a daily occurrence, especially in the summer which I think you witnessed first hand last August. But over the past couple of years, it seems like it doesn't rain nearly as much as it used to.

Not to mention the (gay) Grunge era birthplace, home of Microsoft, Blizzard, Valve, Amazon.com, Nintendo North America Headquarters, Boeing (former before CEO pre-firing relocated the HQ because of a girlfriend), Seattle's Best Coffee, Tully's Coffee, Mike's Hard Lemonade HQ, Realnetworks, Costco.....the list goes on and on.

The rain myth has always baffled me too, but I guess it's only because I've lived here my whole life and know the truth. It can rain a lot, but it can also not rain forever. It hasn't rained for close to two weeks now, but before that it rained every day for 2 weeks, or at least looked like it was going to.

We get all seasons here, all year round. It can get mildly warm and really sunny during the winter and really cold and rainy during the summer. It's all completely unpredictable and weather can drastically change numerous times in a day if it feels like it. Not always knowing what it's going to be like outside is one of the biggest reasons I like it here so much. Plus, the crazy weather makes for lots of green trees and plants, a vast abundance of wildlife, awesome sunsets, and the best buds in the world :)

nope, just the ones I mentioned.

Coffee and technology. They go hand in hand I guess haha.

I don't know for sure but I remember seeing a report on TV a few months ago about the Top 20 most rainy cities or something like that and Seattle was around #8 or #9.

This made me curious and I found this source:
http://www.livescience.com/environment/070518_rainy_cities.html

The first line in the report clearly states:
"Do you think Seattle is the rainiest city in the United States? Well, think again."

I fucking love it! Though this is from over a year ago, our weather here has been getting more odd so we're probably even further down the list.

there's a discrepancy here. sure, other areas may get MORE rain, but can any of them compete with the CONSTANT rain that we get here in the northwest? And on that link it says Olympia hit the list.... don't places like Aberdeen get more rain being on the coast? I'm pretty sure Snohomish (city not county) would get way more rain than Olympia due to its geography. maybe I'm wrong

I agree with Brooks (even though that hurts to say).

Starbucks serves a killer Caramel Machiatto. But for regular ol' drip coffee, I could do WAY better.

Fidalgo Bay

Ahhh! Nothing like buying a dark roasted cup of coffee from Fidalgo Bay then DRIVING REALLY FAST TO A CAMPGROUND SOMEWHERE, SETTING UP YOUR TENT, FINDING A GREAT SPOT TO SIT BY THE RIVER AND LOOK OFF INTO THE DISTANCE WHILE YOUR LOVE MUFFIN RESTS HER HEAD ON YOUR SHOULDER WHILE STARING INTO SPACE DRINKING YOUR COLD ASS COFFEE YOU STUPID BASTARD

EDIT: My bad, Fidalgo is a distributor, not a shop. Makes more sense. Buy the coffee, go camping, make it. Sit by the river.

Indeed.

The rain stereotype baffles me, too. Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't Portland get more rainfall than we do?

which one?

now that i think about it, i believe Maine to be Washington J.R. but without the good coffee and big companies.

but we have Steven King and Moxie.

I'd be willing to bet that Seattle doesn't get nearly the amount of rain that we do in my region here. It literally rains at least once a day.

Here ya go, and some history for ya as well... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Friuli

yeah but it's FUCKING ITALY
