how do you listen to music?

Do you have th emusic in the background while playing computergames,reading,internet whatever...or do you sit and just listen

It seems to me that if I don`t concentrate I miss a lot of details in the music.....

so what do you do????

I listen to music when sitting at the computer posting on message boards, driving my car, working out, etc. I am usually doing something when I am listening to music. I rarely just sit there and listen, though I used to do that more often a long time ago.

With the advent of the portable mass-storage music player, I generally listen to music while walking anywhere, and that allows me to focus pretty well. I find it usually a bit too distracting while I'm doing homework, but I usually put something on while on the internet. Occassionally, I'll devote my attention solely to what I'm listening to, but I don't have as much time for that as I wish.

The problem with Ipods and the like are that it tends to make one's attention span wander. I'll always be 2 or 3 songs into an album and then I'll switch to something else.

I usually listen while i do homework... play the album 3/4 times through.... then if i think it was worth those listens ill put it on on the walk to and from classes....
