How many tracks do you think an avarage metal album should have?

To me, it depends what kind of music it is, bands like Opeth who have longer songs don't need as many tracks, whereas other bands with shorter songs would need more to get to roughly the same length. To be honest though, I don't really mind about the length of an album as long as it sounds good :)

Singles are not for chumps. Buying singles is for chumps. Buying the album is for real men. Downloading the album is for girly men.

Pretty much anyone in full time education can't afford to be real men.

I can't afford to buy albums that often either. I just don't download in the meantime. I have a big enough collection that I don't get bored with it. When I want to hear something new I check out stuff on myspace.

I'm doing that right now, actually. Some guy in the musician's discussion posted a link to his band's myspace. They're excellent, despite the crap name. Check it out here.

I would think metal fans might be more likely to download an album in its entirety than the average music listener. Singles are for chumps.

Very true. Most people I know that listen to mainstream music will only download the band's single, and maybe a couple random tracks (and maybe a song that isn't even by the band) that they found available on their precious limewire program - yet, being completely oblivious to any of the band's albums/releases to the point of which I seemingly know more about their favourite bands than they do...

I used to look up new stuff on myspace occasionally, but it's so easy to download a full album through blogspot rapidshare links now that I generally don't bother. My school's having a concert later this month, featuring some band called Brand New, who I'm not familiar with. They're not metal though, and one of my friends says that in addition to making shitty music, they're complete douchebags who don't respect their fans at all. The only reason I bring this up is because I've been meaning to check them out on myspace, because I don't think downloading their full albums would be worth it.

As for going to the concert, the only reason I'm expressing any interest what-so-ever is because a girl on my floor says they're her favorite band, so I'm considering whether or not I should go just because it might give me an excuse to hang out with her a little more. In fact, maybe I'll post a picture of her later, and you guys can tell me if she's worth it or not

She'd better be hot - they suck balls. Terrible punk-pop. How is SUNY?
Apparently they rank higher than state colleges from most other states and they have a very good job placement rate with pretty good starting salaries, from what I've heard. Next semester is going to be my last one actually, so I'd better get my ass down to the career services office, so they can tell me what to waste the rest of my life on :erk:

And yeah, she's really hot. Hot enough to go to a Brand New concert for though? Well, if she has an extra free ticket, then definitely. Otherwise, I'll have to post some pictures so the rest of you can decide for me :p

the number of tracks doesn't matter, I think the album time matters more.

Imo a full-lenght should always be at least 40mins, excluding the interlude/intro/outro.
