I bought a new car (the "I wanna be like Gugs" thread)...

I just did my 30k service at 27.5k because why the hell not? Beyond the usual crap, it involved a flashlight and "uhh... looks fine!"

I'm not really looking forward to the more intense repairs on this car. Fucking everything on this god damn thing is shoved underneath the hood. It's hilarious to compare the standard Mazda3 to the Mazdaspeed3 with both the hoods up. The Mazda3 has all this room, space, and clearance, very straightforward but without any of the usual cramped Japanese layout, since for a "compact" it's relatively large. The 'speed ran out of room for all the extra crap, so they just build the hood taller and shove it all in. FWD FTL!

I have to poop now.

I've been contemplating ditching it for 6 months, mostly because I want something cheaper since I never fucking drive anymore. And I can gig in the regular Mazda3 so I don't even really need a wagon. But now I only owe $15k on it, so the cost alternative/desire has waned a bit. It would be different if the used car market wasn't so shitty the last several years.

There's really nothing new out there currently that appeals to me. The current WRX is ugly as fuck, I don't care about the Evo, and while the GTI and Focus ST are pretty neat, I don't see them as being wildly different than what I already have, so there's no point going there. I don't get car lust like I used to, that combined with my inherent fucking laziness, and... I'll probably just hold onto the car that says "Zoom-Zoom!" whenever I get in it. That is adorable after all. And hey, at least the tires stopped blowing up! :loco:

I'd love a Mustang or Challenger, but they are far out of my price range for a V8, and hideously impractical. I hate coupes. They look sexy but everything else is retarded. So this all means that I'll probably end up with a Subaru BRZ any day now, haha.

I only owe $15k

that's still quite a bit ... are you right side up on it at least?

that BRZ is sweet as fuck. sat it one and it fit like a glove ... literally. would love to test drive one.

BRZ/FRS is begging for a turbo, and comes with shitty tires stock. Other than those two things it seems universally praised. Such a light car! I was eying the Scion version in particular as supposedly TRD are working on a turbo-charge kit for it.

Re: the IS F several posts ago. It's atypical of the standard Lexus motto. Designed by the engineers on their off-time without nonsense input from the higher ups. Really nice car worth a closer look especially if you are a Lexus hater. I used to be until I did some digging on this car.

NAD - get a bike. You live in fucking Cali, take advantage. KILL YOURSELF FOR SATAN!

 I'm too paranoid for a bike, although that would be fun. I'd definitely die within the first year.

Blue Book says... nevermind my 'puter is too old to use that site. o_O Edmunds says trade in value is right around $15k but I'm not sure I buy that, I still see 'speeds with more mileage than mine going for well over $20k. Although I don't think I buy that either! I doubt I'm getting rid of it at this point. Besides, I do like it, my only reason to ditch it is because I'm only driving 7,000 miles a year currently, and it seems a waste to have such a nice car, when I should be cycling to work instead. Plus that would save me $500 a month that I could use to buy more fuzz pedals...!

I'm not going to lie, I have no clue where I got the CD at this point. Probably from NWN. Maybe searching the extensive catalogue I kept in the purchases thread will shed some light.

TO THE ARCHIVES!

Edit: Well that proved worthless, but it WAS from NWN... In July of '11. Clearly they do not have it any longer.

Sucks. Oh well. I'll keep them on the list and hopefully find it eventually.

I decided last night that I'm going to keep the Mazdaspeed until the new WRX is released, then possibly trade it in to regain my AWD throne of foolishness. The new Impreza is one of the dumbest looking vehicles EVAR but I've read that the WRX will branch off into it's own thang for 2014. It said so on the internet. It simply must be true.

Either that or pay this shit off, drive it into the ground, get frustrated with the cost of repairs, sell it on Craig's List, and start over again with yet another silver Japanese turbocharged 4-cylinder wagon. That worked last time!

That's what I SHOULD get, since it would get my arse back into the outdoors once again. I haven't even put my hiking boots on in over a year.

i am really thinking about a used Honda Element ... I recently discovered the genius of its interior.

They stopped selling those here didnt they?
I got in one at the dealer years ago and was thoroughly impressed with the interior

yep they were disco'd about a year or so ago ... saw a dad load 2 kids in the back of one the other day ... that shit has a cavernous interior ... waterproof ... with rear seats theater style (second row higher than front)

I really like the Cube.
Im not into small cars though. Ive seen too many injuries/deaths. Im sticking to the biggest Volvos I can afford from here on out.

the Cube is cute but reeks of cheap ... the Element is not small at all dude ...
and those Volvos can't even handle hail.

BOTH my Volvos are hail damaged lol

Cube is definitely cheap.
Element is upscale from Cube by decent margin
