Power Metal is basically the same thing as glam metal but in the now. I can only think of a few power metal bands that don't sound like a glam hairmetal band VH-1 picks on.

It may only be half power with the other half being thrash, but it's still power metal. Besides, Thrash and Power are my two favorite sub-genres anyway.

I have actually heard some people refer to Iced Earth as American power metal,but its really hard to put a metal tag on every band you come across.

Yeah, especially Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. I actually thought they were Power Metal bands at first. I just consider tem heavy metal now.

Maybe I'm just too old school but I don't like all this generalization of "Metal" bands. Look, you listen to it.......it either sucks or it rocks your fucking socks off, that's all there is to it.
