Good point. He was pretty much just into black metal and old school death metal, and not so much NWOBHM or heavy metal.

Angel Witch, Satan, and Pagan Altar are fucking good. I always listened to a lot of traditional metal and NWOBHM, even though I primarily listened to extreme metal (particularly black metal).

I listen to some trad metal, and appreciate all good trad metal bands, even if they are not my cup of tea. Some trad metal is too rockish and/or girly for my tastes.

I sometimes go through this... usually when I listen to to much brutal death. It becomes grating. The thing is, I don't have any non metal to listen to... so I just listen to black metal instead (the more melodic stuff, usually with acoustic bits).

But then it's the only Summoning I have, Dol Goldur has been on the wishlist for a while.

Minas Morgul or Dol Guldur wouild be good ones to start with. Luburz is just pure black metal, and definitely not representative of any of their later material.
