The findings are that, the odds of getting aids from infected female to male through unprotected vaginal intercourse is EXTREMELY low. Low as in like you have a better chance of dying from a car accident even with a seat belt than getting female to male transmitted aids through vaginal intercourse.
Do you know that AIDS is not the only STD you can catch? Here's just some exemples and numbers. If you feel lucky then by all means go ahead and don't protect yourself. I'm sure that most of the people who got these disease thought the chances of getting them were really low.
Chlamydia : In 2005, 976,445 chlamydia infections were reported. 332.5 cases per 100,000 population, an increase of 5.1% compared with the rate of 316.5 in 2004.
Gonorrhea : In 2005, 339,593 cases of gonorrhea were reported in the United States. The rate of reported gonorrhea in the United States was 115.6 cases per 100,000 population in 2005.
Cure: Several antibiotics can successfully cure gonorrhea in adolescents and adults. However,
drug-resistant strains of gonorrhea are increasing in many areas of the world, including the United States, and successful treatment of gonorrhea is becoming more difficult.
Syphilis : In 2005, P&S syphilis cases reported to CDC increased to 8,724 from 7,980 in 2004, an increase of 9.3%.
Genital herpes : In 2005, 266,000 were reported.
Cure: There is no treatment that can cure herpes.
Genital Warts : In 2005, 357,000 cases were reported.
HIV : At the end of 2005, the CDC estimates that 437,982 people were living with AIDS in the USA.
Cure: None.
There are many other diseases as well...and the number here are just the reported cases. There is more unreported ones obviously.
